One of their original creations which is pretty innovative for its unconventional mix of flavours. Rosemary is more often than not used for marination of meats as a spice than to be mixed in cold desserts, so its appearance here does trick your tastebuds. The honey used seems to be real honey as well as it does not taste any bit artificial or too sweet. The ice-creams here are of a slush-like consistency, and as this flavour takes an unconventional combination of two rather unrelated ingredients, it is more of an acquired taste for those who choose to have this flavour.

Located at the basement of Bugis Junction, The Waffle sells various flavours of Liege waffles to go. The light, airy batter was great as it does not become too filling as a snack, but the sweetness was a wee bit cloying. Also would have preferred it to be done upon order instead as the waffle seemed to have lost some crispness while sitting in the shelf for too long.

Tucked away in a cosy corner of the OId Badminton Hall, Brawn & Brains makes you feel right at home once you step in, complete with friendly smiles and warm greetings. With a delightfully unpretentious vibe, you can either enjoy a quick and delicious lunch bite, or stick around with a book and enjoy a great latte and homemade Earl Grey pound cake. Their latest offering on the food menu. The tortilla wraps were grilled with their panini grill; thin and crisp, with onions, vegetables and fresh, thick cuts of smoked salmon served. What makes this really interesting is the wasabi mayo that they are not shy with; it invokes a small degree of numbness which wasn't too intrusive but not too forgiving as well. A great and different sort of breakfast.

Friendly staff who take time to talk to you when the place is less hectic but yet give you a friendly smile even when they are busy. Coffee at affordable prices and of quality and standard. Cakes are not too bad. Sandwiches are freshly prepared, so be prepared to wait. Small and cosy cafe which can also be downside because if you happen to come at a time that it's full, you might want to consider waiting or walk away disappointed.

Cool is when you come across a quaint hideout that's not too far from home. Doesn't hurt when the coffee's straightforwardly good, sandwiches are simple and doesn't put a dent on your pocket, cakes are baked lovingly and you also get to sit on designer-ish furniture which were made by the smiley people who served you. And extra points for using plates in my favorite color. I'll be back to show @eamesboy and @gwenwhite some love and steal one of their stools. | #coffee #instaweekend #turquoise

When it comes to banana cakes, I am embarrassed to admit I'm a recent convert (what have I been missing all these years!) Which means I have to make up for plenty of lost time pretty damn quick :)
This morning, it was a slice of Brawn & Brains' homemade one that I tried. Their version has chopped walnuts hunkered down side-by-side with them sweet bananas. A quick pop in the oven gave the cake a light crunchy outer, which I liked very much.
Anyone knows of other good places for banana cake that I can check out?

One of the newer pastry made available recently, this Apple Turnover ($3.20) is crusty and filled with lots of apple bits, before being topped with sprinkled roasted pistachios!

Heard that they use blends from Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee here. Nutty tones with a sweet chocolate finish.

Waffles are everywhere, and I don't really see why I would rush back here for these anytime soon. The scoop of Vanilla Ice-Cream had sweetness similar to those that come with supermarket tubs, while the Waffles were crispy but a wee bit too dry. Thanks to the orange zest, it did give it a refreshing tang to the buttery waffle batter. Easily passable amongst the waffles I have had, but barely impressive.

These boneless shrimp paste chicken wings are so tasty and so easy to eat – the flesh of the drumlets are painstakingly peeled and stuffed into the deboned mid-joints. A sticky homemade kungpow glaze and sesame seeds complete this dish of "local buffalo wings".
