Sharing a space with Snowman Desserts at nex, Ssiksin Chicken offers your usual selection of fried chicken as well as an assortment of plates for sharing. For those who feel that Korean joints always serve ridiculously massive portions of fried chicken, Ssiksin Chicken offers their birds in three serving sizes — 2, 4 and 8 pieces — making it easier for both solo binging and feasting in smaller groups. Choose from flavours such as Original Fried Chicken ($8 for 2 pieces), Spicy Seasoned Chicken or Soy Sauce Chicken ($9 for 2 pieces).
I was compelled to post this straight after my meal, that's how good it was. Situated in the unlikeliest of places, in Vivocity's Food Republic, this is not your average Japanese foodcourt stall. The first promising sign is the ever present smattering of Japanese salarymen patiently queuing for their food. The second, the Japanese cooks behind the counter. Oh, did I also mention they grill their meat over a charcoal fire? I had the salmon and tuna kaisen don (the egg was extra) which featured a bowl of quality Japanese rice overflowing with large chunks of fresh sashimi lightly coated in soy sauce, sesame oil and sesame seeds. Beautiful. A veritable steal at only $9.80 and apparently limited to only 10 bowls a day.
Enjoy all-day brunch fare, hearty mains and gorgeous desserts with your best friends amidst tranquility at this riverside cafe by Punggol Waterway. Whisk & Paddle offers unobstructed views of the resevoir with good food and drink to boot -- a much-needed respite at any time of day. For brunch, dig into comforting dishes like Eggs Ben with Smoked Salmon on Waffles, or a warm pan of Mac and Cheese. For a sweet treat, choose from their range of desserts in their display, and sit back with a cuppa to enjoy the view. If you can't decide, opt for the Berries Rose Tart, or the humble Earl Grey Lavender Loaf. By night, wind down and swop out the desserts and coffee for bar bites and ice cold beer!
Opened by the team behind Shunjuu Izakaya and located within the busy China Square Central area, Koji Sushi Bar offers a selection of nigiri sushi, sashimi and omakase sets. However, their most popular item is their donburi (rice bowl) -- choose from options such as salmon avocado tartare, tuna tartare, pork cheek and eel. At $17 per bowl, they are one of the more affordable donburi options around, considering the quality of their ingredients. The must-try here would be their sashimi rice bowl - sashimi servings are generous and the crispy tempura bits add a surprising crunch factor.
The newest addition to the Les Amis Group of restaurants, Sushi Jin offers high quality Japanese cuisine in a high-end setting but at a lower price point than other locally run sushi places. Interesting sets such as the Jin Lunch Omakase, 5 Kinds of Torched Sushi, Assorted Sushi and Assorted Sashimi are available. Affordable rice bowl options like the Akami Yukke Don and the noteworthy Bara Chirashi are recommended. Also give their decadent truffle seafood chawanmushi a try! Not the cheapest, but check them out for the high quality of food served.
Check out this scrumptious, unique-to-Singapore creation by "Murphy's", an established brand from England that's been frying up fish and chips since 1967. The large arrowteeth fish fillet (it's bigger than the toasted soft buns!) is coated in an English style batter which gives it a great crunchiness. Accompanying the fish between toasted soft buns are bacon, a fried egg, cheese, mayo and a sweet chilli sauce. An awesome combo to say the least. The burger comes with a side of chips (what the English name their fries) so it's really filling.
This "Murphy's" in Ang Mo Kio is the first in Singapore and it looks nothing like a greasy diner. On the contrary, it is a stylish cafe, complete with good coffee too.

$5.50 really doesn't justify this... Quite expensive for milk ice cream. Still, price aside, ice cream was good but honeycomb tasted like plastic after awhile..
Loved it here, sea bass was crisp on the outside, nice and soft inside, truffle fries are really good and well infused with the truffle oil too. Preferred the fries more than squid 😁
Soooo fresh, chewy and the soup is super flavorful! A different kind of fish noodles with the instant noodles tho. $5/bow but worth it I feel!

Fans of Aoki should also check out the new and notable Sushi Jin by Les Amis Group which was launched last year November 2014 in Owen Link at One Farrer Hotel. The chef usually recommends the Omakase but I decided to try the Bara Chirashi ($32++) which is a noteworthy option and popular dish at Sushi Jin.
Amazing value for just $16.50. Freshly grilled Sirloin, Chicken Thigh with Whole Grain Penne, Sous Vide Egg, Walnut, Sautéed Button Mushrooms and Honey Mustard Sauce.
