Love the crispy flaky choc-filled goodness of these Puff Cones (or Puffones)! $1.50 isn’t a lot to pay for something so much more delicious than the standard-issue waffle cone. Pair it up with the Blue Pea Sea Salt (my personal fave, interesting flavour that’s not too cloying) or the classic Earl Grey!

Finally tried Tanuki Raw after its revamp on my day off. The Foie Gras Truffle Yakiniku Bowl ($19.90 if you order between 11.30am-3pm; otherwise $23) came loaded with a decent-sized seared goose liver, thinly sliced US black angus short rib and an onsen egg on top of their signature seasoned rice and elevated with truffle soy & black garlic brown butter - a mishmash of flavours and texture that made this heaven in a bowl.

Here's a not-so-hidden gem in Thomson Plaza (I recommend making reservations, especially for lunch and dinner because the place only seats 12)! A hearty bowl of Bara Chirashi Don ($12.80) with generous, well-seasoned chunks of raw salmon, tuna (maguro) and octopus (tako), topped with ikura. The seasoning was not overly sweet or salty, and you can taste the freshness of the raw fish. Plus points for the ikura not being overly fishy too. Please also try the aburi salmon sushi ($2.80/2pcs) - totally worth the salmon overload!

If you love omu rice or just any form of egg, you'll love this. Osaka Ohsho is known for its gyoza, but the Fuwatoro Tenshin Han won my heart. At $10.90, tasty Japanese rice comes blanketed by a pillowy, fluffy omelette that is so good. The brown gravy is not overpowering, so you can enjoy the complete eggy goodness in a bowl. P.S. They sell two types of Tenshin Han depending on the outlet, I tried both and the Classic version pales in comparison to this one. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Since we only live once, then YOLO is the place to eat UP! Their Miso Glazed Salmon Steak comes with bok choy and quinoa, and is attractively priced at $15.90. The salmon was bigger than I had expected and encrusted in sesame seeds for extra crunch, and the quinoa was flavored (with soy sauce or something similar). Eating clean never tasted so good!
