This dish from Crystal Jade Palace is one of the highlights on its Chinese New Year menu this year. Expect a delicious plate of Hakka Yam Abacus Seeds with Boston Lobster as we find the combination quite unique!

Or maybe staying at home is the best plan! Thinking of this angel hair pasta we had at Tangerine Restaurant awhile back!

This Dashi Somen from Picnic in Wisma Atria is essentially prepared with Japanese soy sauce, mirin and sake, and it uses Japanese white somen. The flavour is light, and is ideal if you just want to have a taste of the simple dashi broth.

Desserts are usually not what excites us the most especially when there are more exciting pastas and other bites at the relatively new Caffe Cicheti (previously the space of Fynn’s) at South Beach. This extra virgin olive oil cake has hints of lemon thyme and is served with vanilla gelato, which works well after a heavy mains.

The stall name is cliche, 记得来 which literally means ‘Remember to Come’. Located in a coffeeshop in Fernvale Sengkang, the Char Siew here is the key highlight for us. Tender and thinly sliced, we had it with noodles tossed in black sauce and we will be back for it again.

We have a thing for light crispy stuff, especially when there’s an airiness to the batter. This dish is addictive, and is psychologically a healthier snack.

This dish is the El Mero Mero Fajita where the oyster blade beef is served in poblano shishito crema along with flour tortillas. The overall flavour is rich, and We particularly enjoy the creamy sauce which acts as a good dip for the tortilla.

This is aptly coined as the Kaleidoscope of Prosperity from @YanCantoneseCuisine CNY Menu. You get crispy vermicelli here with shreds of sweet potato (‘fan shu’), which sounds like a Chinese pun for the year of Rat (‘shu’). That aside, there are also elements of gold flakes, ‘you tiao’ and yellowtail fish.
