More Reviews of good food at Aori Ramen

This is really indulgent, but If you’ve ever wondered if you could have ramen with crispy salted egg fish skin, now you can. #burpple

Now, this is how you do it. Rich, flavourful soup accompanied by chilli oil, noodles that are not soggy but managed to soak up the flavour and charred chashu that is nice and meaty. #burpple

Basic toppings (5 kinds)
Barbeque marinated pork, leek, dry seaweed, marinated bamboo shoots, marinated soft boiled egg RM35

Whether you're here with a gal pal after a shopping sesh, or having dinner for one, this hip restaurant in Pavilion Shopping Mall is the place to be for pork ramen. They offer four types of ramen but the must-have is the Aori Ramen (RM35), which comes with a secret recipe sauce that packs in some heat – Burppler Joann Ang says level two is just right. Opt to jazz up your bowl with even more add-ons like a marinated soft-boiled egg, barbequed marinated pork and Korean-chives kimchi. Look forward to a rich, almost milky-like pork broth with chewy noodles.

This reminds me so much of chilli pan mee! It’s that spicy minced beef when mixed with the egg that creates the same creamy dry sauce for the noodles. I really enjoyed this savoury dish.

Milky, savoury and just very yummy – am adding this to my list for ramen! I like that the ramen’s customisable from garlic and leek cuts to sauce (spicy or no). Especially love the jammy egg!

Where in the city centre whereby you can experience dining alone and also dining together with another person? Well that answer is Aori Ramen! It’s actually a concept which is quite similar in concept to the famous ramen place in Japan; Ichiran! This place is opened quite long ago but when it was newly opened the reception was massive with endless queues that could stretch on for days! Finally, I had the chance to try out and the service was quite prompt but it lacks the Japanese warm yet noisy welcome you would usually get! Then the seating was just packed and they didn’t really give the feeling of having it alone.. The menu was really straightforward but rather steep for its price.. I had the Don Kotz Ramen with 5 toppings (RM35) that has a rather small portion and the chashu pork slice wasn’t really generous.. The noodles was rather mediocre and the broth was quite clear and simple to me; it wasn’t very flavourful or in depth with enormous porky flavour..

You can choose from two options; One is this version (RM35), another is basic version priced at RM31. Ye, RM4 difference lol. It’s good that you can adjust the spicy levels, onions, garlics and also add on. However, if you let me choose between Aori and Ippudo. Ippudo wins hehe.

The trendy Aori Ramen that comes with 5 toppings namely barbecued marinated pork, Japanese bunching onion, soft boiled egg, dried seaweed and bamboo shoot.

That chain owned by some dude from big bong. We tried it. After almost 2 hours of waiting.

Inside, it's a bit like Ichiran with less isolation - and as a bit of a sidetrack, Ichiran is far from the best ramen around wtf can people stop parroting this shit, DM me for 3 ramen joints I tried in Tokyo that are far superior. Ichiran is convenient and accessible and open at all hours and better than pretty much all ramen places in Malaysia but that's about it. Anyway, back to Aori. Although not physically because it's unlikely we'll return.

It's not that it's bad. It's pretty good actually, for Malaysia. It's just...overpriced and not super impressive. Factor in the tokyo-level queues and it feels a bit pointless. I had a bum egg (dried yolk, runny white) but the rest of the gae team had decent ones. Still think Kagura's add-on marinated egg is the best in town. The noodles were maggi-level soft. No texture or taste. Ugh. The seaweed was good. The marinated bamboo shoots were okay but menya Shi shi do did it better (do they still have it ah?). The pork was okay - burnt bits were deliciously smoky - but was also a bit tough and chewy. Bari Uma does it better.

The broth, though, was quite good. Nice porkiness. Decent, not overwhelming, spice even at the Basic level. Creamy, rich, almost milky one-note broth that's much better than current-age Ippudo and Bankara in KL. Bit behind the kuro @ menya Shi shi do but that's me I guess. Overall? Okay lor.

This version of the ramen has 5 more side dishes such as extra seaweed, boiled egg, bamboo shoot. The spiciness is available for people to choose such as level 1 to level 3 of spiciness. Level 2 spiciness was just nice for me, of course I tried level 3 spiciness it has more chilli oil than the spicy taste. But beware that you may choke on the spiciness.

Review : I definitely loved the grilled pork, half boiled egg and the chewiness of the ramen. It's worth trying again as I would want to try other dishes too.
Price : RM35
Rate : 10/10
Add ons : Green tea (RM3) - refillable

***Not my liking type of ramen, too much MSG that cause me feel thirsty after eating
