Borobudur snack shop has been on my old school bakery / Kueh Kueh shop list radar for a long time now. But always didn't get a chance to visit as it is quite out of the way (i.e. not near bedok MRT)! Finally got the opportunity to visit recently when running errands nearby. On that particular morning, I was craving for kueh Ambon specifically. Browsed through their google map review photos and read how the other kuehs were just average. Just so happens, when we visited, their stall was filled with Kueh ambons! Snagged a packet of it (4 for $2.4) and I totally enjoyed it! Love pulling apart the vertical layers of the honeycomb cake /Kueh Ambon! Also love the brown crusty bits. hope such old school bakeries can stay around longer!💖

Bursts in your mouth! This place is so underrated. It's really good.

No queue on a quiet afternoon.

After so long, I still think Borobudur Snacks Shop Pte Ltd has the best kueh Ambon.

Love the burst of gula melaka but skin is a tad too thick

This 80cents peanut ang ku kueh is so packed with filling! Although the skin isn’t thin enough but it’s still soft. Peanut filling is generous and so yummy! They also sell many other kueh like tapioca kueh, ondeh ondeh, kueh lapis, butter cake etc.

红龟糕
This hidden confectionery sells traditional Indonesian kuehs from ondeh ondeh to kueh lapis, all at $0.70 a piece.

Their Ang Ku Kuehs are STUFFED with filling; bursting with it. They come in two flavours: peanut and green bean.
Taste-wise: I'll be honest, it ain't the best, but it ain't bad either. The kueh skin was a tad too alkaline for my liking. Perhaps I was just there a little too late. You might have better luck getting a good box of these famed red cakes earlier in the day.
If anything, the overflowing filling would make anyone's stomach happy.

Tip: The "寿" (shòu) on the kueh means long life or longevity, as in 人寿年丰。So here's to a long life of good food shared with good friends! 🐢
