Teriyaki Pork Jowl Don ($7.50)

pork was quite tender enough but too much fat inside the pork :") and it's quite affordable at orchard area but the egg was runny enough to mix with the rice together.

NO MORE SUKIYAKI DON

It's alright, the pork was good but it wasn't grilled well, no char at all. Worth a return with a different guy at the grill, this time it's a skinny Malaysian? Chinese

The pickles were terrible but the egg was good. Free flow shichimi too so yay

Seems like pork collar and pork Jowl are all not good options.

Just under SGD9, you have a variety of Pork Donburi & Curry Rice to choose from at @butakabayaki!

During their previous PROMO, I had their Oroshi Pork Don (Double Meat) at only SGD6.90. Pretty worth it and satisfying.😌

Be sure to try their Iberico Pork Char Siew Don (SGD7.90)! You’ll be left craving for more slabs of those chargrilled succulent pork.🤤

Located in Food Republic, this was quite a hidden gem. Decided to try it as everywhere else was crowded/had to queue on a friday night. Ordered Teriyaki Pork Collar Don ($5.50) & Jumbo Loin Katsu Curry Rice ($8.90).

Pork collar had a ‘pork smell’ which was abit overpowering for me but some parts of the meat was charred really nicely which covers it up. Will try the iberico pork instead next time! But the pork collar is a pass for me.

On the other hand, the pork katsu was amazing! The meat was THICK and covered with a thin layer of crispy breadcrumbs. Curry was on a more watery side but taste-wise, it’s there. Would recommend getting this.

⭐️ Pork collar don: 2.5/5, Katsu curry rice: 4/5

Buta Kabayaki prides themselves on three things - being a wallet friendly option in Town, using premium pork (iberico) and grilling their pork over a charcoal grill. Suffice to say, their claims are true, and have given me a fulfilling meal when I dined with them for the first time. While the pork jowl was grilled to perfection with an added Smokey flavour, it was perhaps a little too fatty to my liking. But I understand how many people love their meat fatty! And the fat here does melt in your mouth a little. I love my dons topped off with an onsen egg, and this didn’t disappoint! Everything complemented one another well, from the egg to the sweet teriyaki sauce. Request for the chilli powder if you want added spiciness! However, their menu seems pretty limited, with mostly pork related dons and curry katsu rice dishes. But considering the location and affordability, I foresee myself coming back again if I’m ever craving Japanese ricebowls😊

Located in the food court at 313 Somerset, Buta Kabayaki serves affordable Japanese dons that are hard to find in town. This plate of Jumbo Pork Loin was way too worth it. Generous portion of pork, and the curry had meat and potatoes in it. However, the curry was not spicy, but could be easily solved with the chilli powder they provide.
Added Set B for $3 to get a miso soup and chawamushi. The soup was pretty tasteless though.
