Spicy Salmon Maki

$12.80 Β· 27 Reviews

One of the newest items on the menu at @barashitei was the Unagi Salmon Mentai Maki ($14.80). Loved the flavour of the mentaiko sauce that was slathered over slices of aburi salmon, but we felt that the unagi was lost amidst all the activity that was going on within the maki. It's tough to live up to the old favorite, Spicy Salmon Maki ($14.80), which had an addictive spicy sauce and a textural contrast from the tempura ebi within it. This was a tasting hosted by @barashitei. Thanks @burpple for the invite! #burpple #burppletastemaker

Their Spicy Salmon Maki is really good! ❀️ Satisfying. πŸ˜‹ Cha Soba is quite interesting, but sobas are not my cup of tea. This place is a hidden gem. πŸ’Ž Saw reviews that their Chirashi Don is pretty good. For a Friday night, this place is pretty quiet and not busy, maybe because it was a drizzling day and some distance from the mrt.

If you've not been here before, Barashi Tei is located conveniently just a stone throw away from PoMo, and they open till late!

Some of the new items on their menu that we managed to try were the Foie Gras Sushi ($15.80 for 2), Wagyu Beef Don ($38.80), Kushi Mori ($18.80 for 8 Skewers), Ikura Chawanmushi ($6.80) and the Uni Chawanmushi ($9.80). Some of the old hot favourites includes the Spicy Salmon Maki ($14.80), Agedashi Tofu ($7.80) and Moriawase ($28). For those who prefer heavier tasting dishes, the Foie Gras Sushi will definitely be something to try! A generous slice of foie gras is being grilled then slathered in teriyaki glaze before being placed atop sushi rice.
Alternatively, if you're looking for just plain ol' sashimi, order the Moriawase, which consists of 12 pieces of fresh, thick and succulent pieces of assorted sashimi.

Craving for Japanese food at midnight but don't wish to hurt your pocket? Look no further than Barashi Tei that serves traditional Japanese food till 2am. My picks are the Moriawase (12-piece mixed sashimi platter), Spicy Salmon Maki, Ikura Chawanmushi, and Gindara Nabe (Codfish Soup – not in picture). What also stood out for my dining companions were the Foie Gras Sushi (not featured) and Wagyu Beef Don! #Burpproved #BurppleSGLateNight

With the influx of Japanese restaurants in Singapore over the years, choices aplenty, the one here raises the bar with exquisite appeal & value-worthy dishes.
.
Within its snug homely space, expect a mix of fresh sushi and sashimi flown in fresh from Japan's prestigious Tsukui market, as well as unpretentious class of appetizers, & an assortment of cooked dishes to curb your cravings & hunger pangs.
.
Highlights that went down my tummy include their firm & buttery Foie Gras Sushi ($15.80/2pcs), thick cuts of marine from the Moriawase ($28) platter, crowd pleaser Spicy Salmon Maki ($14.80) which delivers that wicked element, Unagi Kabayaki ($24.80) so full of intensity, as well as the Ikura Chanwamushi ($6.80) that just does it all. The Gindara Nabe ($26.80) aka codfish soup was a rainy day saviour that further stimulates this mouthwatering affair. Happiness is easy ☺️
