Pina colada - coconut, matcha and lime

On blazing hot days, take shelter in this well-loved Japanese kakigori joint for hand-crafted shaved ice desserts. A crowd-favourite is the Uji Matcha Brûlée (RM17) that conceals soft red beans within a mountain of matcha shaved ice, crowned with creamy brulee custard. Burppler Alyssia Yu also recommends the Houjicha (RM17), a nutty version that comes with candied chestnuts and garnished with a drizzle of kinako (roasted soybean) milk. You'll also find hot Japanese treats on the menu like the Warabimochi (RM14), a chewy jelly-like snack that's covered in either matcha or kinako powder.

What to do on weekend after a satisfying meal? Of course dessert! We were too full to eat anything filling, thus came to this shaved ice. Had the most simple uji matcha shaved ice. There is a layer of red beans cooked till soft sandwiched in between the equally soft ice. Adding kinako milk is a plus to the ice, it was that perfect match of roasted bean flavor with slightly bitter matcha. Love this truely. Price: RM17, Food: 9/10
**I love the concept of the store to make collection point part of the shop decoration. The ice fits perfectly into the deco, many customers unable to find their food when number is called. Nice design.

Matcha Kakigori with red bean and custard brûlée. Wasn’t a fan of the brûlée and would prefer more matcha flavour.

かき氷 🍧 Japanese shaved ice is much needed to help us combat Kuala Lumpur's hot afternoons. One of their signature, UJI Matcha aka 宇治抹茶!Authentic green tea powdered ice that's soft and fluffy, hidden azuki beans as you drizzle Kinako milk over. Since there's only one warabimochi at the top, we decided to add MYR14 for a plate. It's so good we ended tabao-ing 3 boxes back, haha.

If you've always been a sucker for bingsu, perhaps take your bet on this Kakigori. Because, I bet you it's going to be one of the best bets you've ever taken. Especially if you're going to take someone out on a date make sure to share; because the portion is a little overwhelming. Oh, but if you're waiting for some fancy waiter/ waitress to serve you, don't wait because they practice self service here. But their self service experience, is pretty cool, you don't collect it from a sad looking counter, it's a random shelf that magically have your Kakigori ready. Love the interior, and not to mention their Kakigori's got a lot of feelings + fillings. 😉

💸 Avg price; RM20

Comes in a plate of 12, you can have either kinako or matcha or a mix of both. The texture is delicate and jelly-like compared to the normal mochi. I prefer the kinako (roasted soybean powder) over matcha. It's also served with brown sugar syrup.

A small cozy place in Taman Paramount, situation just a few doors from Awesome Canteen. Kakigori is self service, place your order, pick up from adorable little shelves, and return the trays once you're done.
Their signature kakigori: Uji Matcha (RM17) with red bean, warabi mochi & kinako milk and Hojicha (RM17) with candied chestnuts & kinako milk.

In frame: Uji Matcha.
The ice was so light and smooth. The matcha sauce was evenly distributed throughout the ice and was a delight to have. The addition of kinako milk balanced the overall matcha red bean flavour with a roasty taste. I wouldn't mind having more than one mochi on top though.
