Sheng Mian (Soup)

$3.00 · 5 Reviews

As with all foodies, when you have to queue in line for a long time, you end up ordering more to justify the waiting time and that is exactly what we did with a bowl of Sheng Mian Soup ($3.50) and Mee Hoon Kuay Dry ($3.50). Between the two, if you are craving for a bowl of noodles with a homecooked taste, then the soup version will be the choice for you. However, if you are craving for something different, I will recommend the dry mee hoon kuay version as the freshly pulled noodles has an excellent chew texture and the shape of it is able to hold the black sauce and chilli better. The accompany ingredients like prawn are good but to me, the most important factor is the noodle, which the dry version tasted much better.

PRICE: $3

WAITING TIME: Queued for half an hour on a Monday at 1pm

REMARKS:
- Sheng mian soup's soup was more flavourful than the small bowls of soup accompanying the dry sheng mian
- Found the mian fen guo too thick for our liking
- *Favourite* Sheng mian dry: flavourful seasoning, comes with big prawn and bits of pork meat, texture of noodles was really nice and special -- not your usual soft 'you mian'
- They are open on Mondays!

WILL WE RETURN? Definitely. $3 for this lovely bowl of noodles is so worth it.

For a $3 bowl of Sheng Mian Soup, you can one super fresh prawns, minced meat, pork, vegetables and egg! When cooked together, the flour from the Sheng Mian actually makes the soup thicker.

This bowl of sheng mian soup is not your usual ban mian that you can get from other places. Soup is slightly thicker (most likely due to the long hours of boiling with pork bones and ikan bilis) and ingredients such as prawns and pork slices are very fresh. They have the dry version too which they will mix with their homemade chili sauce and black sauce.
