Do you love MEE? Do you love MEE like the way I love you babe~🎢

Do you like your noodles as much as I do? 🍜 If yes, you have to give the homemade Egg Noodles ($3.80) at Ho Fook Hei a try! βœ”

The noodles are pretty springy without the unpleasant alkaline taste πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹, which makes them awesome choices for those who want some carbs but not a fan of rice. ✌🏻
.
Tossed in their flavourful braising liquid 🀩 & accompanied by blanched greens πŸ₯¬, you can pair this plate of al dente noodles with their roasts or shrimp dumpling soup for a complete meal. πŸ‘πŸ» Their Specialty Rose Wine Soy Sauce Chicken Noodles ($8.80) is certainly my kind of one-dish indulgence! πŸ’•
.
My pro tip would be to pair the noodles with their homemade chilli sauce 🌢, which scored a perfect score from me! While the chefs refused to divulge their secret recipe, a generous amount of dried shrimps was evident. πŸ‘πŸ» Taste-wise, it was savoury with a hint of sweetness from granulated sugar, a subtle smoky fragrance & a mild spicy kick, with lots of crispy bits that created a pleasant texture. 🀀🀀🀀 Reminiscent of the typical seasoning of fried fish skin snacks, I fell in love deeply with this umami blend. ❀

Beautifully poached to yield an incredibly moist and tender meat. Veiled underneath tan cool, supple chicken skin with the quintessential gelatinous layer, this coveted chick is here to slay.

Introducing Ho Fook Hei’s top specialty which is none other than their Specialty Rose Wine SOY Sauce Chicken ($19 half, $35 whole)! 😍😍😍 Using a time-honoured recipe passed down for generations πŸ‘πŸ», the chefs insist that the chicken has to be prepared in a traditional Cantonese way. πŸ’•
.
To create this succulent roast, farm-fresh chickens πŸ“ are brined overnight & slowly poached in their homemade braising liquid of superior soy sauce & a plethora of Chinese herbs and spices. πŸ’― This slow-poach method yields these tender meats carrying a hint of rose-scented wine with golden-brown skin that glistens under the lights. 🌟🌟🌟 Even the toughest breast meat could not help but succumbed to a slab of pull-apart tenderness! 🀀
.
The top quality rose wine from Hong Kong imparted a slight bitter aftertaste with a floral fragrance, which was pretty unique. 🌹🌹🌹
.
Thank you @oo_foodielicious for extending the invite, @sixthsensepr & the friendly crew at Ho Fook Hei for hosting! 😘

From the Joyden Group (best known for Joyden Seafood and Joyden Canton Kitchen) comes this newbie in Great World City for elevated local fare. The Specialty Rose Wine Soy Sauce Chicken ($19 for half) is bathed in sweet-savoury caramel broth, best paired with Steamed Rice ($1.80) or Egg Noodles ($3.80). Lay on some of that homemade chilli sauce for an extra kick. Alternatively, try the buttery Cod Fish Steamed with Old Ginger Sauce ($24.80) garnished with zesty minced ginger. Wash the meal down with the Signature Homemade Red Apple and Hawthorne Drink ($3.50) β€” tastesΒ just like our favourite childhood haw flakes snack!

I’ll order the Specialty Rose Wine Soy Sauce Chicken ($19 for half) just for their rose wine soy sauce which was salty and sweet all at once. Eat up with some rice or their Egg Noodles ($3.80) and you’re good to go! Tip: add some of their homemade chilli sauce (tastes like crunchy haybeehiam) into the noodles to elevate the taste!

Specialty Rose Wine Soy Sauce Chicken

Pretty good... the chicken are smooth and tender, although not the best I've ever had but definitely taste a lot better than the Michelin star soya sauce chicken.
