Legendary cronuts from Dominique Ansel Bakery!

I arrived when trading hours began and there was already a short queue for these beautiful sweet pastries.

The bakery sells the cronuts with a different flavour each month. Was lucky enough to try out the honey rosemary & fig flavour. The pastry was soft, crispy and flaky and the same time but what really sold it was the magical honey ganache filling with a hint of rosemary, mixed with homemade fig jam. Totally recommend if you’re around SoHo in New York.

This mess is the revelation that the hype is real.
Skeptical me had been concerned the cronut from Dominique Ansel Bakery would fall short when I finally have it but nope, it exceeded and then some.
“Life-changing” would not be an exaggeration actually. Especially since this month’s incarnation of the love child between a croissant and a donut, is the “Summer Berry Mascarpone”. Composed of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, the jam filling is thick with fruit and not too sweet. It is match-made with a creamy mascaporne ganache to truly rapturous results.
Get your paws on this if you can. Or pre-order June’s “Peach Pancake” which will have the cronut filled with housemade peach jam and pancake batter ganache. I sure wish I was still in New York next month for that.

Dominique Ansel is famous for creating his legendary cronut - which people actually queue up for from 6am everyday (the bakery opens at 8am). There are different flavours of the month - and I managed to preorder both the May and June flavours (TIP: PO online 2 weeks before - every Monday at 11am USA time. Just google this.) However, my friends and I thought it was overhyped - there was way too much filling inside and there's no way you can eat this without its contents spilling out. It's good to try for the novelty factor - but you can just preorder one and share among your friends, as it's too sweet to finish one on your own. I wouldn't queue for it though, so make sure to preorder it! Many also agree that this DKA is better than the cronut, and I strongly agree with them. Would rather eat a crossaint and a donut separately any day.

Had to wake up really early to queue in the cold just for these. The place opens at 8 am and sells out by 10 am so people typically start queuing at 7 am ! It was a tad too sweet for me though.

❤️🥐🍩 Undeniably 💯 sugar overload, and I definitely ordered waaaaay too much sweets in one seating, but how could anyone resist getting everything while you’re there? 😆 The Cronut flavour of the month was Cinnamon Ganache - delightfully crunchy but also very very sweet. I had to get the Frozen S’mores too because who wouldn’t?! 😋 Creamy, sticky burnt marshmallow on a stick, with frozen Tahitian vanilla ice-cream hidden within, another very very sweet item! My personal favourite is the puffy looking Dominique Kouign-Amann (DKA), it was much crunchier and sturdier than those I’ve had at other bakeries, its caramelised, buttery puff pastry gets more addictive with every bite. No wonder the Kouign-Amann has been dubbed “the fattiest pastry in all of Europe”! 🤭

This dessert is essentially a shot glass shape chocolate cookie that you can fill with super premium, locally-sourced milk infused with Tahitian vanilla. Wait for the centre of the cookie to be a little soft and you may eat it. Have you tried Oreo cookie with milk? Same concept here! Interesting! ☝️😁

Try the signature twist on the Paris- Brest with chocolate ,caramel and peanut at Dominique Ansel bakery . Pretty much like a snicker bar , but a better one. ☝️😁 This place is well known for their cronuts , so do try them if you're in NYC ! .
