Confusing business dispute that led to the original unit going to the usurper and the founder reopening across the road. This is the founder. And this is the large size. Eng's has always been known for its noodle, seasoning, chilli and lard. I'd say the now-rivals have only cosmetic differences lah. The stars on this occasion were the seasoning, plump wantons and soup. I hope the slightly tough noodles were one-off because they're really distracting.

PRICE:
$4.50/$5.50 dry wanton mee

WAITING TIME:
Not crowded on a weekday 7pm so we got a table immediately and food was served within 5 minutes

REMARKS:
- The larger bowl comes with 5 wantons
- Noodles taste as good as ever. Not your usual wanton mee noodles.
- We both felt the chilli doesn't taste as spicy as before. Pity. No kick.
- Portion is okay

We have read the story that this outlet is helmed by the original owner’s family. The wantons are better and bigger than its multi- outlet rival, and the chili much better - but everything else is virtually indistinguishable. Get the $5.50 portion rather than the $4.50 one for better char siew and 2 more wantons (see picture).

This wantan noodle is very special as it uses a delicious sesame sauce. The sauce makes the noodles and ingredients tastier and more attractive. So does the char siu, which makes the dish look nicer👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘🎯🎯🎯🎯

Opened by the Ng siblings after the dispute, ENG’s Char Siew Wantan Mee stall is set up just opposite the original stall along Tanjong Katong Road. With the much-needed aircon, you can enjoy each plate of wantan mee without having to wipe off any sweat.

Comparing with the original
stall ENG's Wantan Noodles, I actually
prefer this (white plate) more. The chilli sauce here seemed to be more toned down in terms of spiciness and the noodles were more springy and tasty.

Came here to try their wanton mee with high expectations, and their wanton mee really didn’t disappoint! The noodles were perfectly springy and had a strong, unique eggy taste. The chilli (provided in a bottle at the side of the table) was so flavourful and also crazy spicy (yum). The wantons were also large and fresh, making up a perfect bowl of wanton mee. Probably one of the best I’ve ever had.
