As you might expect of a coffeehouse, @fangkocoffee does some sterling java. Their unique coffee is the Avocado Coffee ($8.80 nett), which has espresso poured all over puréed avocado. The creaminess of the avocado is even more intense than that of milk, so it’s an odd but super effective dairy alternative for the lactose intolerant. Oddly enough the flavour combo actually works here, mainly due to avocado being naturally bland. The creaminess of the avocado gives a tremendously thick body to the mildly bitter and aromatically roasty espresso, creating a coffee flavoured thick shake. Definitely gotta try it to believe it.⠀

Thank you so much for the invite @fangkocoffee !

As you might expect of a coffeehouse, @fangkocoffee does some sterling java. Starting off with their cold brewed Fangko Melaka ($6 for 8 ounce, $11 for 16), pure Arabica beans are cold brewed and infused with gula melaka. The natural sweetness & flavours of caramel, coffee & nuttiness that are inherent to gula melaka are a perfect pair with the milk coffee. Probably the best sweetener for coffee ever, and I might just have to add gula melaka to my cuppas from now on.⠀

Thank you so much for the invite @fangkocoffee !⠀

Besides fiery Indonesian food, @fangkocoffee does more common café staples, such as their Big Breakfast, croissant served with scrambled eggs, ham & cheese, and Fangko’s very own spin on a Grill Cheese Sandwich ($14 nett). Truth be told, it’s more of an avocado toast with cheese on top, but I ain’t complaining either way.⠀

A plentiful portion of smashed avocado is sandwiched between two slices of sourdough before a two cheese blend is melted on top of it all. Don’t believe on the avo portion? Check out the closeup cross section. I reckon the cheese could be melted more, but that’s the only nitpick I got for this titillating toastie. ⠀

The toastie was well buttered, and the avocado was fresh & addictively creamy. However, the element that really made this toastie tremendous was the inclusion of a secret, house made spread that flavoured everything with its supremely sweet savouriness. If I had to guess, it’s some kind of savoury marmalade that’s made with kecap manis, but the kitchen & the floor crew refused to divulge any info. Alright then, keep your secrets. Just keep these avo cheese toasties coming.⠀

Thank you so much for the invite & the fab food, @fangkocoffee!

@fangkocoffee is not your ordinary café, as they are an Indonesian café in a sea of Australian/European cafe’s in Singapore. Headlining their proudly Indonesian Chimken (yes, that is NOT a typo) mains menu is the Indomie Chimken, going at a super low price of ten bucks flat for this XL bowl.⠀

This Indomie Chimken is (in)famous for having twenty one (!!!) spice levels, and I took the sage advice of one of my friends who tried the level five and experienced Dante’s Nine Circles of Hell. Yes, I went with level one, and it’s already incendiary enough to provoke a light sheen of sweat. The slow creeping spice is mercifully tempered by the sweetness of what I assume is kecap manis tossed into the sauce mix, as well as the fabulously flowing soft boiled egg.⠀

The Chimken was definitely the main attraction here, as Fangko’s signature smashed chicken was possibly the moistest, most supple deep fried chicken I’ve had in recent memory. It’s simply but sufficiently salted, and relies on that fiery but flavourful chili sauce mix to give it that memorable feistiness. Seriously, ten bucks for fantastic fried chicken and a big bowl of spicy noodles? That’s a bargain and a half!⠀
Thanks for the invite @fangkocoffee!

Super thick and strong peanut butter flavours I loved it!!!! Would totally get one more but this was definitely a calorie bomb 🤭🤭.

Fangko Melaka Brew ($6 - 8oz)

Butterfly Lychee soda ($7)

This was interesting! Toast was just slightly crispy at the edges but wouldn't mind the bread itself to be a bit softer. There's also a generous amount of avocado for 🥑 lovers!
