A surprise find! Looks normal but this fried Mee Sua tastes really good! Try their salted egg yolk chicken ball as well.
The signboard says bak kut teh, but the winner dish from this stall is the braised pig's trotters. The sauce is thick and goes really well with rice and even ur Yu Cha Kueh. The meat is tender and absorb the taste of the sauce. Even the fats of the trotters is soft and melts in your mouth. Warning: don't let the sauce stains your clothes! It will be difficult to wash it off!
This is a great food institution that I am so glad that it is still around. Nestled in a green and laid back environment, you feel that you are away from the hustle and bustle of the city and time seems to stand still here. Really love to chill here. Food is pretty good, but prices are on the higher side as they serve mostly the expatriate community. Great place to come to just chill and have good food at the same time. Chicken curry here is also quite good.
Is it better than next door's No 1 Adam Road?
The next time you are at this popular hawker centre and feel like having noodles, give this stall a try. Their handmade Teochew dumplings contain "ti po", a dried sole fish that has to be grilled and broken up before being incorporated into the minced meat filling. The $4 bowl contains three of these, along with minced pork and stewed mushrooms. My tastebuds like the proportion of black vinegar to chilli in the noodles too - not overly sour. But if you like it intense, you can always ask for more vinegar.
Touted as the original Katong laksa (what's new?). But this is also an old laksa institution in Singapore. Try it for yourself to compare. I do prefer this to the other Katong laksa. The Kuah is less over powering than the rest of the Katong laksa.
Simple teochew food that taste really great. Sad that they will be discontinuing the business from 14 Apr onwards.
