Try this if you're at #ImperialTreasure, the chunks of beef are very tender!
Yeah, when I'm with you.
Bloody hot out and I could really do with some cocktails right now.
Opened since January this year, Boufe, with its sun-lit minimalist interior, has very quickly become a hit among cafe-hoppers for capturing perfect shots. Situated within Phoenix Park in the Tanglin area, this cafe serves hearty brunch fare like the usual big breakfast (the Triple B), Eggs Benedict, French Toast, and classic Croque Madame. Go for the Truffle House-baked Baguette -- a delicious combination of crisp baguette with an earthy truffle mushroom ragout, egg and fresh greens -- it is so worth getting out of bed for! They also offer a range of pastries and desserts to be enjoyed with a cup of coffee. This is the kind of spot to enjoy some "me" time, the serenity certainly calms you.
At Sin Lee Foods, the Chicken and Waffles sound tempting, but it is the humble Aburi Broccoli Salad that takes centrestage and receives standing ovations -- time and time again. Inspired by lok-lok, this dish is quite literally a party in your mouth. Torched broccoli florets sit most delicately on a bed of white balsamic, with a cheeky smear of orange coconut sugar on the side that adds not only a lovely colour but also a delightful new dimension of flavour. To top it off, crushed papadums lay scattered, while a light snowing of parmesan finishes this sublime creation. For a satisfying brunch, share the broccoli, and then dig into their Beef and Grains for a real umami, Japanese-inspired hit of flavours that is bound to fill you! Oh, the coffee's excellent too.
Blackened Pork Collar atop a bed of mashed potatoes, fine beans & bacon bits, drizzled with thyme & garlic cream sauce. Ideally, pork collar doesn't dry out easily as it's slightly fatty but the pork collar we had was slightly dry. Then again, we took quite awhile to take photos, so that might contribute to the dryness. I like the mashed potatoes thou'. Slightly grainy and infused with garlic butter. The bacon bits added a touch of smokiness to the mashed potatoes and I can't help but to eat a few more mouthfuls.
Snowflake waffles with Strawberry Cheesecake & Hazelnut Roche ice cream the other day. Waffle is fluffy & slightly crispy at the edges. Could be crispier imo! Ice cream's smooth, creamy & not overly sweet. The slightly tangy strawberry cheesecake ice cream complements the nutty hazelnut roche ice cream well. Heard they have some other nice flavors too! Warrants a revisit sometime soon, eh?
This waffle is crisp on the outside and REALLY fluffy and light inside! Paired with really good quality vanilla ice-cream (with visible specks of vanilla bean) and a delicious salted caramel sauce that is the perfect balance of sweet and savoury... It's waffle heaven! 😋
And All Things Delicious is Tolido's Espresso Nook's newest neighbour, which offers a wide variety for halal-certified bakes such as Gula-Melaka Scones, Brownies and Galettes. The baker insists on using unprocessed ingredients such as unsalted butter organic ingredients so as to make their bakes taste more "natural" and it shows; clean yet flavourful treats indeed. They also share their shop space with Fictive Fingers that does pretty decent handprinted textile designs, if anyone is interested.
The casual atmosphere at this New American gastropub certainly will put you at ease despite some unfamiliar dishes on their seasonally-changing menu. Rachel tells us more about this exceptional foie gras dish: "Inspired by a certain dish in US which he tasted then to be "the best thing I've had", this is what executive chef Benjamin declares to be the usurper of that title. I can see why - the strange combination of melt-in-the-mouth foie gras on crisp toasted brioche works surprisingly and superbly well with sweet elements of dark chocolate ganache and mashed bananas, crunchy granola crumbs and smokey bacon jam. I don't know if this is THE best thing I've ever had, but it certainly ranks among the top and for a non-foie gras fan like me, that's saying a lot."
A collab with the popular Sarnies, The Lokal features breakfast and lunch items like Triple Cheese & Mushroom toasties, Veal schnitzel burger, and excellent coffee. Great to have another quality cafe in the Duxton area!
This beautiful new concept from Bali has taken over Keong Saik's iconic Tong Ah Kopitiam, and is thankfully serving great food in an inviting space. Tuck into a Three Buns burger on the whimsical second floor, and move upstairs to the third floor bar for a drink, or the rooftop garden if the weather permits.
