Cold soba with slimy grated mountain yam, topped with an onsen egg.
Rating: 8/10
Pretty refreshing taste and interesting texture.
Spicy tuna, avocado, cucumber and jicama all wrapped in nori and sticky Japanese rice, then draped with slices of tuna, more spicy sauce and very fine wisps of red pepper.
Salmon sashimi fans ALERT! Here's one good donburi to satisfy all your cravings in one bowl. ::::Salmon 4 ways:::: Salmon Sashimi • Aburi Salmon Belly • Spicy Salmon • Mentaiko Seared Salmon Sashimi • All that goodness resting on tanuki's signature mix rice. & that ikura.... You won't wanna miss it, REALLY.
The A4 grade Wagyu beef was tenderness through and through, while the ikura was extremely fresh. I have seen many soft-boiled eggs in my time but this one was especially beautiful. Admittedly, this wasn't the biggest of portions. However, with the appetiser of crunchy roasted soya beans, clear vegetable broth and a glass of cold green tea, it was enough for lunch.
With three live stations — teppanyaki, sushi and robatayaki — it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the vast selection offered in Mikuni’s menu. While the excellent Unagi Don ($48) and superb Kagoshima Wagyu Beef Don ($48, comes with a battered crispy egg!) are understandable default options for most, save the Mikuni Chirashi ($90) to pamper yourself or someone you're dying to impress. You might think for a second that you were given a sashimi platter instead, cos the mound of rice is hidden underneath decadent slices of salmon, tuna belly, prawn, uni, tamago and a spoonful of ikura. Pricey? Yes, but so worth it!
Perfectly grilled and very tender, flavor or the meat itself was so good no need for dipping sauce for me 😄
Okay actually 6 different varieties, all presented on this plate! Stay tuned for more pictures on their wagyu sashimi and other proteins!
I've been having loads of Japanese food the past few months in the course of my work, but I still find it impossible to turn away sashimi and vinegared rice. Love the generosity of the raw fish toppings here at Manzoku – there's salmon, tuna and swordfish in this mix!
4 munchies: The great selection of fresh burrito-sized sushi rolls is ideal for busy and health-conscious executives working in the CBD to grab and go. My picks are Crabby Crunch (soft shell crab) with prawn roe and Geisha Dance (grilled unagi) with bacon bits.

Truffle Takiniku Beef ($18) - Thick slices of beef slices with truffled oil and topping off with an Onsen Egg. So tender and good!
Heard that it's cheaper for lunch (
The ikura was pretty flavourful, and there was so much of it too! There isn't much to say about the rest of the dish though.
The Kani (Crab) Gratin. Sinfully rich, luxurious and utterly delicious; the combination of sweet crab meat with crunchy, cheesy gratin was impressive looking and tasty. One of my dinner companion, lifestyle writer Rachel Xie was reciting "OMG this is shiok!" as it was really hard to articulate exactly how incredibly delicious it was, and I had to join Rachel's kind of surreal reenacting "OMG this is shiok!"
