Tired of the usual Valentine's Day Western set meals? Do things a little differently this year with upmarket Chinese fare at this cosy, dimly lit restaurant and bring a date who can eat! Start by munching on the Snow Bun (RM10 for two pieces), filled generously with chicken char siew, as well as the addictive Crispy Silver Bait (RM22). For mains, the Crab Roe Fried Rice (RM42) is great if you're hungry, or go for something lighter like their Wat Tan Hor Fun (RM44), smooth noodles bathed in a yummy egg gravy. If you prefer sharing plates, order the Red Duck (RM60 for a half duck) — make it a meal with the Chinese Spinach in Superior Fish Broth (RM25) and plain rice (RM3 each). Finish on a sweet note with the Musang King Durian Pancake (RM14) or “Way” Style Sago Mango Pomelo (RM16), and wash it all down with Chinese tea. They also have a four-course Valentine's Day set menu with dim sum appetisers, double boiled shark bone soup, a choice of seafood main, and dessert (RM168 per person). Whatever you choose, just be sure to wear something smart but comfortable — definitely not anything too tight!

Apart from panoramic views of the city, the excellent food at this edgy restaurant is what draws diners. Fuego's take on South American tapas crafts a menu that is perfect for sharing — great for a fun night out with your girlfriends. Start with lighter bites like The Fuego Guacamole (RM20), Smoked Quail Eggs (RM25) and Grilled Watermelon (RM30) to whet your appetite, before moving on to the very hearty portions of meat — think Braised Beef Back Rib (RM95) with an orange, cider vinegar and honey glaze and Australian Grass Fed Rib-Eye (RM110) with a Cambodian Kampot pepper rub, and red wine and grelot onions sauce. There may not be any tummy space left after all that, but if you must end your dinner on a sweet note, go for their signature Fuego Churros (RM35), which comes with salted caramel espuma.

This popular seafood restaurant is perfect if you're celebrating Valentine's Day with a group of friends — after all, nothing quite bonds like rolling up your sleeves and digging your hands into some seriously good seafood! The crabs (RM89 per kg) are the star here, so be sure to build your menu around it. Dig into Fatty Crab's signature Sweet and Sour Crab, served with steamed or fried mantous to mop up the flavourful cravy. The umami rich Salted Egg Crab is also good — pair it with the Fried Rice (RM21) and, if you'd like to break the seafood monotony, Chicken Wings (RM2.20 per piece). Wash it all down with an ice cold Beer (from RM8) or Fresh Sugarcane Juice (RM1.50).

This masculine steakhouse, complete with dim lighting and leather seats, sets the tone for a sexy Valentine's Day date night. Steaks are the main draw here. You wouldn't go wrong with the Master Kobe Wagyu Marble 9+ Striploin (RM148 per 100g, minimum 200g order), with sauce and gravy options including truffle béarnaise, chimichurri and cep reduction. Apart from steaks, other stellar mains include the Beast Lobster (RM240), a crab and scallop mouse stuffed lobster served with lobster bisque, and the Big M&C Burger (RM68) with baked macaroni and three cheese sauce. Save space to share the Truffle-scented Mac ‘n’ Cheese (RM20) on the side, and if you can still stomach it, the Beasty Tiramisu (RM38) for dessert.

Take yourself out on a pizza date at this casual pizzeria, which makes going solo easy with single slice pizzas — good too if you're out with friends who can never compromise on pizza flavours! The Margherita (RM8.88 per slice) is a classic combination of mozzarella, fresh tomato sauce, olive oil and grated grana padano cheese, or go for the meaty and very satisfying Mikey's Favourite (RM10.88 per slice), topped generously with kitchen-made meatballs, roasted peppers, caramelised onions and garlic. Cheese lovers, don't miss Andrew Belluci’s Favourite (RM10.88 per slice), which comes heaped with cheddar, mozzarella, ricotta and goat’s cheese.

Head up to the 23rd floor of The Troika for a romantic dinner with stunning night views of the city skyline at Cantaloupe. For the occasion, chef Christian Bauer has specially created a Valentine's Day menu that will spoil you and your date silly. The four-course menu (RM400 per person) features the likes of Foie Gras, as well as Smoked Scallop with fried coconut custard and scallop and herring tartare; or go all out with the six-course menu (RM500 per person), which includes even more luxurious choices like Grilled Lobster with chilli lime lentil puree. There are two seatings for Sunday night — 6pm and 8:30pm. Reservations are essential and be sure to dress up!

"After catering at events and running pop ups for the past few years, Fancy Breakfast Club has finally taken up residence within the Telawi area of Bangsar, above Sangkaya. Long known for their fancy brunches, they have upped their game for dinner with a special three-course Valentine's weekend menu (available 13 and 14 February, RM240 per couple including a mini flower bouquet). Expect starters like Smoked Duck Breast and Beef Carpaccio, mains like Beef Sirloin with Wild Mushroom Risotto and Cheese and Spinach Stuffed Chicken over Truffle Mushroom Linguine, and luscious desserts like Lychee Panna Cotta and Chocolate Ganache with Red Velvet Sponge. Seating is limited to only 12 couples per day, so hurry up with your reservations!

Produce is king at this Australian restaurant, which crafts its menu around seasonal ingredients sourced from Malaysian farms as well as imported from Australia. Its rustic vibe — think wooden furniture and velvet stools — also sets a fun, laidback stage for a casual dinner date. Their special Valentine's Day menu (RM310 per couple, RM520 with free-flow wine) features crowd pleasers like Foie Gras, Pan-seared Scallops, Roasted Lamb Rack and Strawberry Mille-Feuille, or put together your own meal from the à la carte menu — the Baby Rack Pork Ribs (RM35) and Truffle Mushroom Arancini (RM35) are both very good. For a nightcap, head to its speakeasy-style lounge for extra privacy.

"It doesn't get more romantic than savouring Italian food over killer views of the city skyline. Billed as Kuala Lumpur's highest venue, Marini's on 57 (located on the 57th floor of the third tower of KLCC) is exactly where to go if you're sparing no expense this Valentine's Day. The super indulgent eight-course menu (RM1,599 per couple, RM1,999 for a windowside table) pulls out all the stops with the likes of Servruga caviar, fresh sea urchin, Maine lobster and Kobe beef, all served on elegant Christofle silverware. Reservations are essential, and be sure to dress in your most impressive outfit.

When done right, an afternoon tea for two can just be as romantic as an intimate dinner. Invite your date to the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur for a lovely, English-style high tea, available daily from 3-6:30pm. Choose from three different areas to dine in — the cosy Drawing Room (RM68 per person), spacious Tea Lounge (RM48 per person) or the very popular Orchid Observatory (RM88 per person), which features walls of the gorgeous potted blooms. Get to know each other better while sharing a tea stand (two to share) laden with both sweet and savoury tea-riffic bites like sandwiches, scones and if you're lucky, kueh pie tee and samosas, along with free-flow tea or coffee. Take note that the food selection is the same across all three areas; you will be paying for the ambience. Reservations are necessary.

Known for its good variety of authentic Italian dishes — think wood-fired pizzas and hearty pastas — La Risata has whipped up an elegant four-course menu (RM125 per person or RM350 per couple, including a bottle of wine) just for Valentine's Day. Whet your appetite with the refreshing Australian Queen Scallop with Salmon Carpaccio, followed by the Half-Moon Sea Crab Raviolone with Cream Bisque. Choose between two smart mains — the Pan-Fried Fillet of Halibut comes with parsnip puree and wild berry salad, while the Braised Wagyu Beef Cheek is a heartier choice with polenta concia — then linger over the Chocolate Truffle Tart. Pro tip: La Risata's charming setting makes it a popular place for date nights, so make your reservation early!

There's nothing more fun and real than sharing sloppy burgers with your date, and KGB's Killer Gourmet Burger stands out for their utterly delicious burgers. Take the classic route with The Shack (RM12.90) — choose from beef or grilled chicken, served with their special 'Shack' sauce, or throw all caution to the wind and go for heart-stopping creations like Bash (RM18.90), a truly stupendous burger of grilled beef, bacon jam relish, provolone cheese, caramelised onions and an interesting touch of maple cornflakes, or Hot Mess (RM18.90), fluffy buns sandwiching parmesan crusted chicken, hot wing skin, egg salad and buffalo wing aioli.
