Really a slurp-worthy ramen dish with free beansprouts and hard boiled eggs ! Very affordable as well !
Note that they open from 6pm to 5am which can cater to party goers in the area haha ^^!
There are quite a few Teppei Syukudo outlets around, but only the ION outlet offers the flexible customizability of salad and rice and various sizes with a variety of options from fish, toppings and condiments. Originally at $15.80, the medium size comes with four different types of fish (went with salmon, tuna, baby scallops and yellow tail) while we added Mentaiko seasoning at $0.80. Quite a generous bowl with quality cuts of marinated fish which was pretty savoury with a umami touch by the seasoning. Each bowl comes with special sauce, ikura, wasabi, goma etc; a pretty good option to spoil yourself with if you are around Orchard.
I can't go on a day without meat. To start off my day of shopping, I need my energy food - BEEF! For $12, I found the beef fillet reasonably tasty. Slightly on the chewy side but retaining the juicy and little red of the beef. Not bad, which explains why we ordered 2 plates. π
Yes yes, I know Koh Grill is famous for their Shiok Maki (Gen. 1 and 2). But looking at how the Shiok Makis are being prepared now, I'd rather order other makis.
I'd strongly recommend Foie Gras Maki with Swordfish ($28). But this time I found my number 2 fave maki - Kazan Maki. Tuna is wrapped on the outside with asparagus and mekajiki inside. Lovely light taste with the additional savory and creamy sauce all over the maki to enhance the whole explosive eating experience in my mouth. No wonder it is called kazan (volcano in Japanese).
FYI: The Shiok Makis were all prepped on plates placed in line, waiting for Chef Patrick to torch and drench the sauce on them. Every plate was sitting on the counter for about 5-8 minutes before getting torched. Perhaps this explains why some people found the Shiok Maki tasting not as shiok as before.
Shiok!!! Maki ($16.80)

Sussed out by Burpple Tastemaker Xing Wei Chua, this modest 12-seater Japanese stall in Thomson Plaza serves tasty Japanese rice bowls. The Bara Chirashi Don ($12.80) is the most value-for-money item on the menu, considering the generous heap of freshly marinated sashimi chunks. If you're ready to splurge, go for the Premium Bara Chirashi Don ($22.80). It comes with fatty salmon, octopus and even glass prawns! Add $5 to complete your meal with a miso soup, salad and three slices of sashimi. Reservations are highly recommended.

The first thing I did was took a sip of the "soup". Wrong choice. It is purely a dipping sauce rather than soup as it it way too salty. Unless you want to get high blood pressure, then drink the "soup" as you may. Although the initial mistake, it is an amazing dipping sauce! Served piping hot, it warms up the cold soba to the right temperature. There's a generous serving of beef and vegetables in the sauce as well, and of cause not forgetting the soft boiled egg that I popped in my mouth. π
