Had this salted caramel and cookies and cream ice cream with delicious waffles topped with maple syrup sauce. I felt the ice cream went really well with the waffles which was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It's a pity the ice cream melted really fast because it would have been an added oomph to an otherwise very satisfying dessert

Finally got to try the pancakes, black and white layer cake (not pictured) and of course, the chicken and waffle! Delicious food and good service. If anything, would have wanted a bit more crisp in the waffles :) portions are huge, so share the love! Promotion with mysamsung app ends 15th jan #BurppleXChope

That being said this cafe/showroom, like how @larvitar aptly puts it, is an Instagrammers wet dream. It's how you would envision your house robbery if you don't mind the clutter. Lots of wood, open spaces and pretty furniture. The food is secondary. Although the ice cream is pretty good.

Part florist, part furniture shop, Knots Living has most recently introduced a cafe to its space. It may be a little out of the city in Paya Lebar, but we reckon Instagram junkies will be trooping down in no time to capture its gorgeous interiors β€” think grey walls, rustic wood furniture and beautiful floral accents, all served up with a dash of hipster panache. Soak in the good vibes as you sip on a Caramel Macchiato ($5.20), tuck into all-day breakfast classics like Eggs Benedict ($12.90), or treat yourself to the Banana Gusto ($9.90), a waffle topped with a scoop each of chocolate and chocolate mint ice cream supplied by Ice Cream Chefs, sliced bananas and marshmallows. For maximum visual impact, add $1 to make it a charcoal waffle! It's a lovely space to spend a weekend afternoon chilling out with a friend, preferably one who loves Instagramming as much as you do. Pro-tip: They currently have a pizza deal ongoing. Pay $25.80 for a 12-inch pizza, two drinks and two scoops of ice cream. It's great value!

Group Therapy's sister cafe, Regroup x Scooptherapy serves both hot food and some of Group Therapy's signature dishes, as well as ice cream made in-house, which is great for those who want everything under one roof. Go for the Butter Beer Ice Cream, a decadent combination of butterscotch and beer, the Red Velvet, which has red velvet cake bits, or the Pineapple Tart, that features bits of buttery crust and candied pineapple. Pair your ice cream with waffles – it never goes wrong. If brownies are more your thing, go for the Goldrush, an indulgent plate of vanilla bean ice cream atop a rich and chocolaty brownie, with honeycomb crumble, chocolate soil and salted egg sauce.

Hidden in Purvis Street, Rabbit Owl Depot is a small industrial-themed ice cream parlour dedicated to serving quality ice cream made with only the freshest ingredients. The flavours here are pretty conventional and may not stand out from the crowd, but the quality is outstanding. Their crispy, mad fluffy buttermilk waffles will keep you coming back for more, and should definitely be paired with ice cream – go for the Thai Coconut, Roasted Black Sesame or Earl Grey ice cream! At $9.50, you get two waffles and a scoop of ice cream – not shabby at all.

Your taste buds might just get a little bit confused here, with all the unusual ice cream flavours like Miso Gula Melaka, Pineapple Coconut and Cloves, and even Hoisin! Incorporating hoisin into a dessert is a daring move, but hey, it works. You can also choose sweet or savoury waffles; the savoury one has blue cheese and ham, which actually balances out the sweetness of the ice cream. For something more familiar, go for the Lychee Rose or the Pandan Kaya ice cream. Expect the texture of the ice cream here to feel less creamy and more slushy-like.

The last time I went to Montana was in a past life when they still served nothing but waffles and coffee, so I was glad to see it evolve into a completely new and much sexier beast.

This serving of braised beef cheek with carrot kimchi bowled me over with just how ludicrously tender the beef cheeks were! They were fork tender, separating cleanly with no fuss or muss with the application of a fork and a little coaxing. It reminded me of really, REALLY brilliant Cantonese beef brisket texture wise, and it was obscenely umami and stunningly savory tastewise.

The carrot kimchi on the side was a crunchy contrast to the divine bovine, being sweeter than normal kimchi due to carrots overthrowing the cabbage as the main player in the kimchi. The sweet potato & potato mash was subtle but brought an element of comforting creaminess and the all important carbs to the plate (or bowl). The poached egg discharged its duties well, its oozy yolk being the glue in the dish that held everything together for the thick cut wholegrain toast to mop up all the savory sauces in the bowl.

Indeed, this is probably the cheekiest brunch offering there is on Montana's exciting new menu. Many thanks to @veronicaphua for the invite, and to @chinesewinegal and @montanasingspore for hosting!

Sous vide and confit'ed to lock in all its juices, the chicken quarter was gratifyingly tender and lip smackingly moist, its skin coated with a fragrant five spice rub that it owes its oriental moniker to.

Of the accompaniments, I found myself drawn to the punchy flavour of the tangy smoked ginger plum sauce, and liberally doused my chicken in it. The coleslaw was dressed in the same addictive sauce and not a single shred was left unravished by my pillaging fork either.

I'm waffling on whether I like the chive waffles or not. While they weren't bad, they didn't necessarily add anything to the plate either.

Taste: 3.5/5

My favourite of all was the Braised Beef Cheek! Tender braised beef with mash sweet potato and carrot kimchi on some toast. It almost feels like a deconstructed bibimbap! The chicken confit is unlike any other confit, where it is sous vide first before confit-ing, to ensure that the chicken does not dry out and retains its tenderness. I also like how they chose to use leaner beef cuts from a mixture of Australian grass fed beef and US corn fed beef to bring out the flavour of the beef in their beef batter! (Can almost say it's healthier but stronger in flavour!) The Montana Bangers & Mash comes with a century egg potato foam, which was very light in texture and very unexpected. It is best to dip the toast into it and combine with some chorizo or Italian sausage! β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €πŸ΄

I'm tempted to say that Montana has the best waffles. They are fluffy but aren't limp, because the outer layer has a thin layer of crisp. The eggy fragrance is thus enhanced by the crisp smokiness, while retaining bite in the inner layers without feeling airy. Its good!

The chicken, when well-fried, were very hot and crispy. It goes really well with the waffles, because it's like a mega fried chicken sandwich (think Zinger Burger), except that the buns were those awesome waffles I just mentioned.
