My second time here. Got the Hire Katsu Pork Fillet Set (120g). Found the portion just right for me. It was also really tender and juicy! The sauces provided also added a burst of flavour to the meat. The set came with a big heap of fresh cabbage, fragrant multigrain rice, soup which wasn’t too salty, and a light orange jelly as dessert. Will definitely be back for more!
The tonkatsu here is really as good as what you can get in Japan. Pork was perfectly breaded and extremely crispy while the inside remained tender and very juicy. They have free flow salad and soup here too! But you can’t enjoy that if you’re sharing the food with a friend. There’s also a lottttt of radish here... radish appetiser, radish soup. But ok la it’s nice! Would come back.
I crave fried food whenever I'm sick 🙃 This is one of the nicer tonkatsu in Singapore but I still miss the ones in Japan!
@mamaison.singapore offers a wide range of tonkatsu, and I chose pork fillet. The tenderized meat was amazing, but you have to eat it quickly or the oil from the cutlet will intensify the pork flavor - a bit too strong for my liking.
Also, they do offer free flow rice and salad, which makes it really worth it!
Satisfaction : 🤤 🤤 🤤🤤
Price : 120g $20.80++
Place: Ma Maison at Chijmes

My go-to ramen place and order. Love the soup and the noodles and of course, the free flow of eggs. The staff are really nice too and didn’t get disgruntled even when we kept asking for egg refills.
Aged Miyazaki Kinako Pork Katsu Set
served with multi-grain rice, tonjiru, cabbage, pickles and dessert
The panko-crusted katsu was very crispy and the meat still retain juicy on the inside. The Miyazaki kinako pork itself was definitely the highlight, it was super tender, well marbled and had a delicate flavor.
Top grade juicy Rosu (loin) + Hire (fillet) + Ebi (prawn). Awesome batter.. Comes with refillable salad too. Love it!
Set meal of foie gras at $28.00, comes together with salad and vegetable soup. Meat is much more tender. Though it doesn't as soft as mameton but it is good as filled meat.

Set of mameton pork at $20 with brown rice which healthier. Love the juicy and soft meat. Quite affordable set that comes together with noodle, pickles, and salad. Remember to put the sauce with their own created salad to have a better taste
Truffle tonkatsu with multigrain rice set. Could smell the truffle before the set reached my table but there was barely any truffle taste when I ate it though. At least the pork was really tender. Love the multigrain rice with beans inside! With free flow lettuce and free green tea for $17.00(after gst & tax), this was really worth it!
Apart from the Otsumami Truffle Tonkatsu, a scrumptious piece of deep-fried pork that thrilled a truffle-lover like me (I Burppled about it under my "Japanese Oishii!" collection), these were a few of the other items we had at Tonzaemon Tonkatsu & Sake Bar (pictured clockwise from top left):
1) Fried Quail's Eggs - The very thin coating of crunchy batter contrasted well with the hard-boiled eggs. Surprisingly, it wasn't oily either.
2) Deepfried Oysters - Although the oysters were fresh and creamy, I found the batter overfried. That unfortunately, compromised the overall enjoyment of this dish a little.
3) Foie Gras Gyozas (5 for $7.80++) - Two of the dumplings had slightly undercooked skin but the juicy foie gras and pork filling was distracting enough for me to not mind it too much.
4) Kurobuta Pork Set ($31.80++) - The Black Pig pork was already very juicy, tender and slightly sweet in flavour but I still picked the Katsu (pork loin) cut over the lean Hire (pork fillet) as I wanted some fat. As part of a set meal, it came with mixed grain rice (or plain but where's the fun in that?), pickles and a bowl of tasty Tonjiru miso soup that's REFILLABLE. Damn worth it for the quality.
For truffle fans out there, this is a version of tonkatsu that might interest you. The breaded and deepfried juicy pork loin gets a spray of truffle oil when it is delivered to the table. Then to really layer on the truffle aroma and flavour, a saucer of truffle salt is presented for dipping. I have to say, this was something quite new to me and it tasted delicious!
Tell me where I can find good ones in Singapore (and Tokyo since I will be going soon).
They serve free flow of salad, soup and rice. Love the tonkatsu, multi grain rice and soup here. Good service too!
