Relate to the feeling of reconnecting with a friend you haven't seen in a while, and who'd gone through drastic changes? After head bartender Luke and his team left last year, I was scared to return — to face the unfamiliar new incarnation of one of my best friends in alcoholism. I'm glad I had the courage to reconnect.

This cocktail 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲, 𝗡𝗼 𝗘𝗴𝗴 ($25) consisted of cheddar, cream, honey and star anise smoke, and boy did it hit the spot hard. It had a whole gamut of flavours — sweet, smokey and savoury, with a heavy-hitting spirit base that hid a tinge of spice. Its flavours were eloquently announced on the palate through a mouthfeel that I'd liken to a lightly-creamy soup with hints of starchiness.

Underneath the changes, they still held that familiarly spunky and adventurous spirit. I didn't quite feel the same spark yet, but we're slowing getting reacquainted and I'm confident of rediscovering that original flame we had.

Interesting cocktails
Hot and cold > pineapple, coconut, white chocolate, lavender
Sticky Mango > fermented mango, glutinous rice and coconut

Not a lot of snacks available > only this and French beans (yes not fries but beans)

Might not be top in some official rankings, but OD is a bar that truly has me enamoured. I have never once been disappointed by new concoctions in their ever-changing menu.

This Harajuku Highball ($25) is really easy to drink. With smoked pear and quince tea kombucha as ingredients, it was pleasantly sweet whilst still carrying an enchanting complexity. The candied walnut is also a charming finish touch.

O.D. has been one of my favourite bars for years now for a good reason - their drinks are so creative and exciting and well made, that they are so well worth the price. Their menu often changes but their classics are well worth trying as well. The staff are super knowledgeable as well and always friendly and happy to chat.

Underground speakeasy, with drinks of secret alcoholic tones. I got Snow, which tasted like Yakult with white chocolate. I very much love the Hot n Cold, with the hot coconut foam lying over cold alcohol. The Salted Egg also reminds me of a dinosaur egg and it's presentation is en pointe: opening it emits a smell of burnt hay and star anise (which I'm not a fan of). It tastes heavily like toffee too. Many exotic drinks which I'll be back for!!
