4⭐ Start of a feasting week. Had Italian food for lunch at Prego. My favourite bread Fococcia was served warm with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. We ordered 2 mains to be eligible for Amex Love Dining Discount. I always have a soft spot for ravioli but WB is not a fan as it's just dumpling to him. The ravioli is filled with prawn paste and complement with scallops. Frankly speaking, it's so filling just eating ravioli as a dish. Chose a non carb for the next dish so we had grilled sea bass. The fish is light and goes well with the crunchy bread crumb and pistachio.

Tried the rustica pizza ($38), the vongole ($36) and potatoes ($10). Not very worth for the price point. The pasta was not well flavoured. Pizza was okay. Potatoes is crispy and well seasoned.
S$20
A harmonious balance of coffee, chocolate and alcohol flavour. A perfect dessert to end the meal.
S$58
The slight salty Parma ham somehow balanced the sweet refreshing flavours of the melon and tart flavor of the balsamic vinegar.
Perfect combination.
S$40
The thin crust pizza is cooked at 500 degree in Pregro oven, resulting a flamed burnt flavour. The additional of rocket leaves added a nice peppery flavour which complimented the salty chewy Parma ham.
S$22
Super filling for a dessert pizza. It's a crunchy thin crust pizza topped with banana, generous amount of chocolate sauce and pearls.
From the top:
1. Taleggio and barolo red wine risotto, braised beef short rib, black truffle ($36) - Risotto was bland and undercooked, and the short rib could be softer. We could barely taste the black truffle too.
2. Carpaccio di Manzo ($26) - We felt there were too much arugula, mushroom and parmesan as the toppings overpowered the thinly sliced beef tenderloin.
3. Angel hair, Maine lobster ($43) - For lack of a better description, the taste reminded us of mee kia tah in tomato sauce. Angel hair was overcooked (not al dente) and the tomato base was lacking seasoning. The lobster was slightly chewy and rubbery too.
Overall, we had high hopes for Prego as it prized itself as an authentic Italian restaurant. However, the dishes disappointed us greatly and we do not recommend dining here. You can easily get better quality Italian food elsewhere at the same price, if not less.

Risotto al Pomodoro e Mascarpone - $32
·
Tomato Risotto, Basil, Mascarpone & Calabrian Schiacciata Sausage. The risotto itself looks appetising, taste wise is a balance of sweet and savoury. Sweet from the tomato based risotto, savoury from the sliced spicy Calabria sausage. Finally a non seafood based risotto and I’m loving it, better still if it can be more affordable

Aka nasi lemak lol. This was good. The rice was so-so but the chilli and the curried spiced drumlets were shiok.
Poached eggs, French brioche, Parma ham, garlic French beans, baby spinach, hollandaise sauce. One of the smallest breakfast dishes here haha. The ham sibei salty.
Siew mai, har gow and weird dumplings that can't decide they're pan-seared or boiled and are filled with turnip.
Typical hotel hawker food haha. It felt premium but it's missing the grittiness of the street. I quite like the noodles used. There's chicken meat but it's lame.
Scrambled egg, chicken cheese sausage, toasted sourdough, bacon, mushroom ragout, hash brown. I usually dislike sourdough but toasted and buttered I'm a changed man. The ragout was also a standout. Rare but the egg was bad.
Organic yogurt, chia seeds, organic honey, orange marmalade, coconut. Everything above and below the white layer was nice. The sour yogurt hurt the experience.
We Had A Staycay At Fairmont And ordered prego. This was during phase 2 (HA). Can’t rmb what this was called but it has prosciutto, arugula and mozzarella. Good stuff. Would eat it again in the restaurant.
The description excited me. Soft shell crab, sea urchin oil, shredded vegetables. Its default is maccheroni but if you know me I much prefer noodle pasta so I requested the change. As you can imagine, it's quite umami lah, but too oily.
