Tofu never looked so exciting to eat! Fried tofu egg cake adorned with lots of grated peanuts and sweet spicy soy - tasted like rojak but with tofu. I loved that the outside was crunchy with its fried skin, and the inside was soft tofu.

Great for sharing as it is quite big and strong tasting. It was also something sweet to alternate with the other spicy dishes we ordered, as this one wasn’t really spicy at all.

We visited on a weekday lunchtime and there was quite a bit of a queue even though we were slightly early. Fortunately we were just two people so we managed to get seats. Towards the peak lunch hour, there were already people standing around and waiting for seats.

Not too bad to try if you’re around the area and craving for Indonesian food.

Small piece of fish but the veggies were cooked in a sauce that's quite creamy from the coconut milk and there's quite some heat.

Overall the food here is pretty pricey, and it's good but not spectacular. Tables are limited, queue is reasonable. No reason to specially visit

Here is 2 portions, one portion is maybe one small squid. The sauce was pretty thick, not bad but the sotong was tough and chewy

Passable

Chicken was tender, the sauce forms a soft layer encapsulating the meat. However it's kinda cold and there's barely any char.

Passable

Jackfruit curry. This one is slightly thinner than what I had previously, but it's got a seafood base. Decently executed, the jackfruit was tender(maybe abit more tender than ideal)

The jackfruit curry is a must order. Flavourful with all the right spices.

Kueh Lopes are in triangular shape and come with dark syrup. We use only half of the syrup. Very well covered in coconut flakes. It doesn’t have the filling. We prefer Kueh Buah Melaka.👌

The jackfruit curry comes with our favourite jackfruit seed. It is a delicacy and signature dish here. Queue could be quite long (15 mins waiting time on Saturday). Wish the curry base could be thicker though.

Calling out all Nasi Padang fans! Check out Rumah Makan Minang at Kampong Glam or Our Tampines Hub the next time you want to get your Nasi Padang fix. There’s a vast selection of curries and dishes that you can choose from, some which are rather unique to the restaurant.

What are some of the must try dishes here? I would say it’s their signature beef rendang ($3.50 per person) and Indonesian tahu telur ($6). The differentiating factor for Minang’s beef rendang is in the gravy and the rempah (spice paste). While beef rendang at most places tend to be on the sweeter side, Minang’s rendang was spicy and aromatic which was a nice change from what I’m used to. The well-marinated beef may not be the softest but this is how it should taste if we were to go by the Padang-style playbook.

For those not familiar with Indonesian cuisine, tahu telur is basically a block of fried firm tofu (taukwa) mixed with eggs. It’s served with beansprouts, ground peanuts and sweet, watered down kicap manis (sweet soy sauce). What makes their tahu telur good is that the beancurd is fried till crispy but remains firm and moist on the inside.

We also had the gulai ayam ($3.50), sambal goreng ($4.50), sayur kangkung ($3.50), begedil ($1 each), salted egg ($1 for half). They were reasonably good too and the gulai ayam was rich in coconut milk but could’ve been spicier. And my favourites sambal goreng and begedil didn’t disappoint at all.

We spent $36 for 2 including rice and drinks which may be on the high side for some. My only gripe is that their delicious selection of sambal to accompany the food was charged separately at $0.50 per tub.

Considering what I have was already good, I’ll come back and try the rest of the dishes.

We can count on the number of Petai Beans (4 prawns are given). Hope they are more generous with beans cos they are actually our highlights! Rumah Makan Minang is still our favourite value Nasi Padang eatery that we absolutely love!!🔥
P.S. double every single dish we order here to be enough for 2 persons. Pay double but well worth it!

Thought we already agree that it is for 2 persons. Somehow we are given 1 Sotong which never gonna be enough for sharing. No rubbery effect just soft and easy to chew Sotong.👍

The only dish (out of 3 dishes) whose portion is enough for sharing for 2 persons. We find the curry a bit on the light watery side but no regret to choose this jackfruit curry as it is a must order!

Thought that this was for free when the staff asked so we went for the spiciest one. No regret though as one small cup is a nice proportion to share among 4 persons.
P.S. they got refreshing calamansi cup for $2 each, rice $1 each plate. Total bill for this meal is $42.50 #valueeat 😉

At the same price as Tahu Telur, this dish must be special! Upon unwrapping the banana leaves, we found the fish curry covered with cooked curry leaves. It is spicy on the first layer but dig deeper with spoon and the sweet kembong fish are waiting for you. Totally worth a try!! 🤟

We ordered this dish accidentally as we look for vegetable dish but couldn’t find brinjal. It is simply delish although we might skip it next time as we are looking for some oomph factor!
