How can anyone resist fresh salmon on sticky, vinegary Japanese rice? Plus a free serving of miso soup and chawamushi! It's a straightforward, simple bowl that has no wow factor, but given the price and accessible location, I won't be surprised if I find myself here again in a couple of months!
π΄Basic salmon don that's good not great, but a rare for-value find in the CBD area βοΈ 3/5 βοΈ

Loved the thick slabs of sashimi, but wish it the fish was a bit more chilled. Pretty value for money though, since the set included iced tea, chawanmushi and miso soup! #burpple #sashimi #japfood
Kaisendon ($16) that came with chawanmushi, miso soup and unsweetened iced tea. I love variety in my donburi so this has great value
Pretty value for money with quite a generous portion and it comes with soup and chawanmushi! My only gripe is what started out as fresh sashimi became the warmest bowl of kaisen don I've ever eaten, possibly thanks to this dreaded weather. ππ₯
Set along the intersection of Boon Tat and Telok Ayer Street, this low-key joint β they call themselves a 'fishmonger cafeteria' β serves up affordable rice bowl lunch sets. Go for the Salmon Sashimi Don ($15), topped with hearty slices of fresh salmon. Each set comes with complimentary iced tea, miso soup and chawanmushi. As they are a seafood supplier, freshness is guaranteed. Seating is outdoors (but sheltered), so leave your jacket at the office.
