Yaki Ebi Be-Kon Bata Yaki While I was very used to seeing bacon-wrapped straw mushrooms or asparagus in grilled skewers, it might just be my first encounter with the prawn version. Indeed, this item was delightful with the prawn cooked just nicely, and the juiciness of the seafood played down the possibility of having an over-salty bacon and butter coat. Wonder how it would be even more unforgettable if there is some Kewpie mayonnaise on them. Fattening, yes, but worth the calories! Also available ala carte at S$18.00. #BurppleEatup #BurppleBeyond

Sashimi Moriawase Cheers to having a platter of raw fish in an eat-all-you-can setting, and that was what Shin Minori could offer in their Omizu Buffet menu. The assortment might vary depending on the availability, but would usually come with 6 kinds of Sashimi if you would take all of them. Otherwise, the Sashimi could also be selected to your preference, ranging from salmon, spicy seared tuna, tuna, yellow tail, octopus or cuttlefish. The most satisfying thing about this item was that the seafood were cut to the right thickness, and one could tell its freshness easily (I simply liked eating it with a bit of Wasabi). I would say that this item made a fantastic start to my meal, though I might also consider eating a few rounds of Sashimi as my meal too. Thankfully, Burpple Beyond had my weekday dinner buffets covered as one of their deals, so for S$49.90 I could indulge in a Japanese feast for 2 pax. Awesome, isn’t it? #BurppleEatup #BurppleBeyond

mentaiko soft shell crab burger $25 // there are those days when you consume a meal that is probably equivalent to your weekly calorie intake, and today is one of them. this dish was superrrrr sinful and rich, but also very yumz!! a generous chunk of battered soft-shell crab as the patty, drenched in mentaiko sauce, topped with ikura (which gave nice pops of fish roe oil(?) with each bite, good texture!!), a slice of melted cheese and sandwiched between 2 fluffy, toasted hamburger buns!!! SO much carbs, but thankfully there was a single piece of lettuce to let me feel like i was being healthy uh (jkjk it didn’t, but have this dish anyway, it was great and u deserve a treat once in awhile!!) this restaurant is quite a hidden gem, as it is situated in a corner of south beach tower within one of their blocks, but very chilled out ambience once you enter and the service staff were prompt and efficient, which made my experience here a fond one :-)

breakfast burger The hangover burger ($22) fared much better! A single wagyu patty was accompanied by a crispy hash brown drizzled with maple syrup, a fried egg, sautéed mushrooms and the usual cheese, lettuce and tomato. The beef patty was similarly below expectations, but the variety of flavours and textures more than made up for it. Interestingly, there was a dash of hot sauce in the burger!

double trouble The Armoury Burger ($23) comprises of two wagyu patties, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato. The bacon added a dash of savouriness but the beef was a tad dry, with a flavour that was not distinct. The sauce tasted like thousand island! The bun was pretty dense but well buttered, and the fries sprinkled with paprika. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the hype of being a namesake burger.

Box Of 6 Macarons ($20) The macarons here are of unique flavours and aren’t too sweet too. They’re always good to have when needing a sweet treat after a long day 😌 I got salted egg with curry, Thai tea, dark chocolate, pistachio, white chocolate lychee and salted caramel.

My secret indulgent food is dessert. Well, maybe not really a secret since half the time I’m posting about sweets. Arrays of these beautiful macarons that are just begging to eat, greet us when we push open the door to @the_m_plot. But big macarons caught our attention with flavours like Raspberry Lychee Rose & Chocolate Hazelnut Praline. The light floral fragrance from rose and lychee infused ganache complements the tangy raspberries! Raspberry Lychee Rose was a harmonious marriage of decadent flavour but Chocolate Hazelnut Praline was pretty well-balanced too. P.S: we managed to save with #burpplebeyond. Two big macarons along with two pot of hot tea at $13.50, it’s a super great deal! Huge Macarons And Tea (1 For 1) Used the beyond deal for these macarons. A little too sweet but I guess that's how macarons are supposed to be. Ordered the raspberry lychee rose and chocolate pralines. Cost about $8.50 each. The raspberry macaron is more pleasing to me with a balance from the sweetness of raspberry and fragrance of lychee. Nice ambience to spend your weekends at.

Value For Money Steamboat ($29.80) Onepot offers a wide variety of soups and ingredients at affordable prices. You can get up to 3 soups per table and we got laksa, mala and chicken soup. The chicken was a bit plain for our liking but the laksa and mala were flavourful and yummy.

Mala Hotpot buffet for $20?? Yes, with #burpplebeyond it's possible. Although it's not the best, it's not too bad either considering the spread available (scallops, bamboo clams, mutton slices, etc). You're able to satisfy your mala cravings definitely. Do note that your clothes will smell of mala oil after the meal, so just go really casual if you want to!

Good Variety The sauces are pretty standard, & are right by the entrance. Next to that are the ice cream freezer & free flow sugary drinks station - these cost $2 extra (total), which I didn't opt for & I felt I wasn't missing out on much. For meat, I basically whacked the beef & mutton as I usually do. They weren't too fatty, which is great! The other options are pork & chicken. The main section where the rest of the ingredients are saw a large variety seafood (the bamboo clams were a bit smelly though), mushrooms, vegetables, my favourite tang hoon & thick sweet potato noodles, & I must have cracked 4 eggs into the soup nearing the end of my meal 😂 Overall, in terms of variety & quality of food, I was quite happy with what was offered. Give the Xiao Long Baos a miss, though - despite being included in the buffet price, they aren't actually nice. Not much soup inside, & the skin is way too thick. The top is also very stiff & hard (that's what she said). 💷 Cash/NETS only 🖥 Accepts reservations - I used Eatigo for 50% off, clicked through via Shopback for cashback 🍽 Burpple Beyond partner 📱 Accepts GrabPay

Korean Fusion BBQ (Dunlop Street) 06/09/19 Time limit: 100min (I think this applies only to Eatigo users) Price: $18.60 (After 50% Eatigo discount and 10% Service Charge) Note: No GST charge at this buffet A small obscure restaurant located on the second floor of a shophouse along Dunlop Street. They had quite a wide variety of marinades for the pork belly as well as a variety of different types of meat and meat cuts. In addition to the meats were the vegetables and pineapple (Probably canned) and watermelon. There was a waffle, ice cream and cooked food station as well. On top of that, they provide free-flow drinks for an additional $2.50 nett. Otherwise, you're strongly recommended to bring your own water. While there was a decent variety of meats, I wouldn't come back again, even with the 50% discount as none of the meats were high quality and none of the marinades stood out in particular apart from perhaps, the herbal pork belly. Price: 8/10 (This is after the 50% discount) Taste: 5.5/10 Ambience: 4/10 Overall: 5.5/10 (Would not be over 5 without the 50% discount) More pictures at: https://www.instagram.com/p/B2ecO5CAAoN/?igshid=1hpgzoaqyu5ey Full review at: https://thankgodjournals.blogspot.com/2019/09/buffet-review-korean-fusion-bbq-dunlop.html

For 1-for-1 Buffet (~save $60) Meat lovers, jot this one down! This meat-centric Buffet (from $42) housed in Park Hotel Alexandra serves up superb roasts in a comfy setting. While there isn't a wide variety, the salt-grilled Ana Paula Black Angus Ribeye and the succulent Spit-Roasted Chicken with Truffle are sure to satisfy. Also good is the Seafood Medley, comprising fresh prawns and squid in a tasty broth. Photo by Burppler SG Food On Foot

Beef (Dry-Aged, Slow Roasted) Finally had some time for a longer lunch, and decided to head to The Carvery to try the meat buffet. The beef and lamb was fabulous! They even had different types of sea salt that would go with the meats - charcoal, red lava sea salt, mixed spices sea salt. Personally, I liked the mixed spices sea salt the best - it went very well with the beef and gave it more texture and flavour. The service staff were prompt and alert to ensure my water was topped up; they took the time to speak with me - asking if I’ve tried their carving station and even explained how that they dry-aged their beef for approximately 2 weeks before they slow roast it, then roast it in their charcoal oven. In addition, they had 2 types of goat cheeses, which is rare for any restaurants or buffets. It may not be everyone’s top choice but I loved it So thumbs up on this! Their pork knuckle is usually for dinners; and on weekends, they would have 2 different types of beef available. This probably explains the difference in the buffet price. A buffet for the meat lovers!

They were not kidding when they said that their rotasserie chicken is their specialty. The meat was really tender and juicy, and didn't need any sauce to go with it. Rather than the variety, their quantity do shine for certain dishes such as their wood fire pizzas and bread pudding. Worth it if you get the 1 for 1 @chopesg voucher for about $50!

Steamboat Buffet When the dishes came, my friend and I were honestly terrified. Please note that the portions come in large, overwhelming servings. That one meat plate is ONE serving. We ordered 2 others of pork!! The meat was tender and fresh, and while I love beef, I would choose pork over beef here. Soup choices were tomato and something mild (i forgot which). Skip the tomato, unless you like drinking tomato sauce. I’d try the mala if given the opportunity to though. Alot of seafood choices here and you get access to the condiments too. Drinks are ala carte. Prompt service! Again I stress that you order what you can first, taking in mind the quantity is huge.

Mala Butter Soupbase Great quality of food with one of the best Mala soupbase in town. $26.80 net buffet price, definitely worth it, eventhough the they charge the soupbase separately. Will come back again.

Steamboat Buffet [$28.80++/pax on Weekends and PHs] Walked up and down Liang Seah street, aka steamboat street now 😂, before finally settling with this place! They have an ala carte option as well but we went for the standard 90 minutes buffet (they’re quite strict during peak hours). If I didn’t remember wrongly, the premium buffet is around $32++, but it looks more worth if you take beef - we saw many tables ordering plates and plates of them! The trio soup base is an additional $8 top up per table with their mushroom base as a default. We went for tomato and ma la for the other two. They have a good range of veg, seafood, etc. that is available for you to take, while their fish and meats are prepared on order. Ingredients were all pretty fresh I must say! Ma la broth was drinkable and the mushroom base was comforting. Overall it’s affordable for its variety plus free flow drinks and ice cream, but it got really stuffy after awhile. Ventilation inside is not the best, it might be cooler sitting outside if you’re coming for dinner! Weekdays’ pricing per pax is $25.80++.

Steamboat Buffet Rein by their signature mushroom soup base, they have both ala carte and buffet options. In exact, 2 kind of buffet options - the normal one and the premium one which includes additional items like wagyu, black pork, scallops etc. For the usual normal selection, it has a decent variety of pork belly, beef belly, pork shoulder, tender beef slices, fish slices, handmade balls, mushrooms and veggies etc. All their ingredients are fresh and timely replenished. Among all the soup stocks, I still personally like the mushroom one, it’s light and flavorful. While the mala base is kind of fragrant but lack the oomph while the herbal soup is easily sweetened up with all the ingredients added into it. Quite worth the buck I would say! But it gets really crowded! So there’s a time limit during peak period and to avoid the queue remember to make a reservation!

Fantastic Meat They've got a promotion going on their website itself so I didn't use beyond for this. Skip the Deluxe buffet and go straight for Premium. For 75 per person (inclusive of gst and all), I thought the meal was really worth it. The meats were beautifully marbled and melted in your mouth. We couldn't help but get more orders of both the kurobuta karubi and wagyu karubi. Highly recommend getting their tonkotsu soup for your hotpot too, it's lovely and sweet.

1 For 1 Burpple Beyond This set was $22.90 but with 1 for 1 it was quite reasonable. Honestly, was expecting more quality for the food but it was average at best. The rice did not look like Japanese rice, I think they used jasmine rice instead. However, the unagi was quite good but I’ve tasted better before. I liked the sashimi! However, portions were quite small and the chicken in the chawanmushi was pink and I did not dare to eat it. Overall, it was quite okay, would not go back there again if I were craving Japanese, could probably get cheaper and better quality food elsewhere. Food: 6.5/10

MUST READ - Great Food But Very Schemy Went because of Burpple, 1 for 1 and because we love Wagyu so we went for the premium On their website the price of their buffet ranges from 40+ with premium at 64.9++ but as soon as they found out we ereee using burple they wouldn't allow the price that everyone else pays normally, instead it was $180 per person after ++ so we ended up paying 90 per person WHICH IS A TOTAL SCAM because it would have been cheaper without Burpple which was 64++ without the Burpple. Food was great but trust me if you read enough reviews you'll realise they are very dodgy and scammy. Another example is the premium was so much more expensive because it's more variety of wagyu AND you get free flow Ben and Jerry's ice cream which is not obvious and I looked everywhere on their menu and couldn't find it. I only knew because I read a review online, otherwise they would have gotten away with us having no free flow ice cream because they never told us, they purposely hide that info from you. Just because they're unethical and dishonest I wouldn't come back here again. Disappointed that you pay for burpple for such a terrible deal. Shame on burpple for allowing this also
