At a decent price this restaurant offers a pretty wide selection of Japanese food. All comes in small portions so you can try more of others.

I have been abstaining from Japanese food all week long to make space for this😍 The Ala Carte Omizu Lunch Buffet ($53.90++ per pax) comes with a super wide selection of Japanese food items and they are generally pretty good.

Some of my favourites include the aburi sushi platter, assorted sashimi platter, chawanmushi with egg white foam and tobiko, pan fried beef with yakiniku sauce and raw egg, pan fried mixed vegetables, gyoza, deep fried octopus, grilled beef tongue with salt and salmon head mini hot pot.

The only thing I didn’t really like is the ramen - the ones we tried are quite lacklustre in terms of flavour and noodle texture and they cannot be compared to the ones sold in proper ramen eateries. It’s probably a good idea to give the noodles a miss and just stick to the wide selection of sushi (which is pretty decent and fresh) if you want some carbs:)

Overall, there are more hits than misses and this is definitely an enjoyable (and super filling) meal for me. The price is reasonable given the quality and quantity, which is made even sweeter with Burpple Beyond’s one-for-one deal.

The place is often full at lunchtime even on weekdays, and most customers have some kind of discount voucher. The buffet menu is extensive and encompasses almost all Japanese cooking styles - sushi, izakaya, tempura, Shabu Shabu, tonkatsu, etc. Food quality is B-, worse than Sushi Tei but it’s not bad, especially the sashimi. Efficient and friendly service staff; these poor guys are overworked, especially since they have reduced headcount due to Covid. With the Entertainer 1-or-1 discount, the bill is only $54++ for two, so one should not complain. Shin Minori may be in the minor league in terms of food quality, but it won’t break your shin!

🔸i love how the servings are small and bite size, perfect for people who like to just try a lot of things.

🔸 the service can be quite slow, so just be patient.

🔸 I will rate it 7/10

I have patronised Shin Minori for close to 5 years now, and I must say that while the expanded menu is exciting, the reduction in portion size was very disappointing! The quality also dropped a bit as the ratio of seafood to rice in their maki rolls (arguably the best thing on the menu) increased. Thus, our dining experience didn't feel as "shiok" as before, and subsequent visits would be few and far between.
