I finally made it, due to their difficult hours haha. Let's start with the eponymous chilli. Unfortunately it's like normal ytf chilli to me. Is it overhyped? I picked Hakka mee and as always I loved it. Ingredients-wise there weren't many by the time I reached. The meat paste mushroom was delicious, but the tau kwa was lousy. Overall this stall isn't worth the effort. I think its main appeal is the cheapness.

I didn't really appreciate it during my childhood, as you know 90 kids like us loves fried food and McDonald's 😕 My dad would always order the "usual" which is the Hakka yellow mee + a 5 pieces YTF in soup. In my faint memories of it, the tofu pieces dip in sweet sauce was pretty enjoyable. But the noodles which was usually quite dry was a torture to get by.
Till recently, I started appreciating the beauty and flavour of this famous hakka dish!
This was yesterday lunch at the Famous Special Chili Yong Tau Fu shop at Jalan Bersah. Their handmade pieces reminds of the homemade ones from my Grandfather(he make awesome YTF btw, but he can't make them anymore as it's too tiring for him. He makes THE BEST sweet sauce too) but the yellow mee must still quite hard for me to get by (childhood terror?) Today marks a launch of something special, and I'm proud to be part of it!! #Hawkerpedia

Really nice YTF, all the ingredients tasted very fresh and homemade. The Hakka noodles were a welcome change from the usual, worth it at $1 and super tasty. Known for their special chilli, it really took self-control not to drown everything in it!
