Reviews of good food at The Larder Cafe

From starters menu, this generous portion of fries with cheese dip is $8. Great to share.

From mains menu, $19 per portion of duck leg (meat falling off the bone), sitting on heap of mashed potato, covered with arugula & drizzled on orange sauce. Quite tasteful.

From brunch menu, $12 for this lovely tortilla wrap of sliced grilled chicken, avocado, tomatoes & multi layers of lettuce. Side served greens salad. Sumptuous!

These bacon cup eggs would be more IG-worthy if they sprinkled some chopped bacon bits or herbs for a finishing touch. Similarly, those were possibly the simple missing touches we felt were lacking to complete its taste.
Nonetheless, this place still had its charm for a comfortable hangout in the heartland with cafe food and beers.

Thick with crispy edges, it had a good bite although we would prefer a fluffier centre. Fortunately, their waffles came with double scoops of ice cream which balanced the drier texture of the waffles. Flavours of their ice cream were not too bad, overall a decent treat without having to search too hard for a table.

Hmm, nice ambience.. food okay for that price.. But the waitress with a bitch face annoys us

Ate this mushroom aglio olio from The Larder cafe for bunch! I think we can already establish that pasta is my favorite food. HAHA

Smoked Salmon with poached eggs drizzled with generous hollandaise sauce on brioche bread. Served with greens.

Waffles here are on the sweeter side, with a dense texture quite like pancakes. Got the safe ice cream flavours chocolate and coffee latte. You might want to try the flavours before buying. The type of ice cream here is more suited for pacifying kids. Not so ideal if you wanna impress your date. Double scoops with waffles was $12.

Quite small for its price. Caramel sauce tasted very run-of-the-mill, vanilla ice cream was forgettable. Not worth it IMO. Would love to try their mains someday.

Was a little let down because as a whole it tasted just like normal caramel and could have been saltier. The lava centre would have been better if it was more flowy as well. Overall, still good, very decadent, but a little too sweet for my liking and would have been more balanced if it was a bit more savoury.

It's really just wonton. But then ratatouille is just roast veg, and bourguignon is just beef stew, so don't diss.

A family dinner at a cafe in Toa Payoh Central. The place is spacious even though it doesn't seems to be able to take in many customers. We ordered duck confits, pan seared seabass, BBQ pork ribs and mushroom truffle gratin. The duck confit is served with mashed potatoes and simple garnish. It was absolutely tasty when eat together with mash potatoes but the skin portion in my taste is too salty. The pan seared seabass to my dad is slightly fishy but the meat is soft and tender. It was served with salad and mash potatoes. The BBQ pork rib was meaty and to my sister liking. It was definitely value for money and was served with fries and coleslaw. The must try will be the mushroom truffle gratin which is super tasty and makes one can't stop eating it. If you are there, do try out the duck confit and mushroom truffle gratin!

Duck confit always get my attention. This wasn't too bad but personally, i would have preferred the meat to be more tender. Carbonara was average. Service staff were friendly and super polite though.
