Priding themselves as the first umeshu and highball bar in Singapore, @umesan_100 carries at least 40 varieties of umeshu alongside other liqueurs. In this contemporary speakeasy behind a striking row of Japanese vending machines, you are bound to find something to your liking!

Iā€™d recommend the tasting sets for first timers, particularly the fruity umeshu tasting set that we had. The 3 different flavors were characteristic on its own; Kyohime Kanjuku Yuzu was refreshing and zesty with a hint of tart from the plum liqueur. The pineapple was sweetest of all, using a mix of Okinawa pineapple with Nako plum, and Bijofu, my favourite, which was a blend of citrusy yuzu with a delicate floral tasting note of honey and sake. Smooth and palatable, I have to admit that umeshus are now my kind of alcohol.

Mistia($150), an amazing drink with refreshing sourness and the freshness of muscat, offering a very sweet and fruity taste.

Ozeki Momo($88), boasting fruity sweetness and mild acidity from the best peach and ume.

We couldn't resist the Sake Based Umeshu Set($20) either, with highlights like Ginrei Gassan Junmai Jikomi, balancing sweetness and acidity to perfection. Daishinshu Mizore Ringo impressed with its sweet and rich aroma, reminiscent of apples. Nanbubijin Mutenka, a sugar-free plum sake, amused us with its rich flavour, even reminding us of Shoyu! šŸ˜‚

Next up was the Fruity Umeshu Set($16), featuring Bijofu Yuzu with a fresh aroma and elegant yuzu acidity, leaving a sweet and sour note on the finish. Pineapple offered a luscious combination of Okinawa pineapple and Nanko Ume, creating a fruity and rich experience. Kyohime Kanjuku Yuzu refreshed us with a lingering aftertaste.

In the Starter Set($16), Meiri Kairakuen stood out with its simple, clear, fresh, and mellow aroma, made using Nanko plum. Oshukubai Akai had a unique taste, reminiscent of roselle juice, made from plum, red perilla, rose hip, and blackcurrant. Meanwhile, Ozeki Nigori surprised us with its rich and deep mild flavour, boasting a fruity palate and unique cloudiness.
