One of my favourite all time dim sum places to go is 一点心 (yi dian xin). They serve up a simple menu of traditional dim sum which is handmade daily at the kitchen.

My personal favourites includes the Steamed Carrot Cake ($2.80). Instead of the usual chopped up and fried with eggs and pickled cabbage (giam cai), this steamed version comes with a savoury soy sauce mixture, topped with chopped chives and sesame seeds.

The carrot cake is extremely soft and melts almost instantly. Scoop up some of the sauce while you’re at it to lightly flavour the smooth and soft carrot cake.

Pretty good siew mai though we thought it was a bit pricey. Meat was juicy and had a good bite while its skin wasn’t dough-y. The wait may take a while due to the crowd.

I love fried carrot cake. But i got to say tt this steamed version at Yi Dian Xin is rly yummy too ❤

The carrot cake is super soft & has bits of lup cheong in it, adding a nice flavour to it. The black savoury sauce complements it nicely too 👍

Almost can never resist this item when I pass YDX. They make some decent dim sum but this... $3 which I'd pay anytime over a $1.50 lo mai gai. Look at that glory. It's juicy, huge and has fatty chicken, mushroom and char siew (?!). Not for the faint of heart.

On a rainy public holiday afternoon, all these freshly made dim sum are soul-comforting that it really warms the heart. Special mention to the Steam Carrot Cake ($3) which has strips of white radish inside while the entire cake is so soft that it literally melts in your mouth. The next popular dim sum, the Signature Salted Egg Custard Pau ($3.80) is of the right size with a QQ texture and a savoury sweet salted egg mixture.

Less impressed with their CCF though granted they were pretty generous with the prawns. The skin while silky, lacked the elasticity. I'd skip to save space for the rest of their dishes next time
