A good fluffy rendition, not sure why there was orange flavouring in this, might be a slip of the baker who misplaced orange extract instead of vanilla in the batter. Regardless the texture and buttercream was delightful.
The ๐๐จ๐๐จ๐ง๐ฎ๐ญ ๐๐ฎ๐ง ($1.50) was generously filled with fragrant desiccated coconut but leaned towards the sweeter side. We were less fans of the ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐ง ($1.60) that we found too sweet for our palettes.

Love traditional breads and popped by Yi Jia for our first dine-in since HA. They offer a wide range of breads, cakes, and pastries in a retro, quaint cafe space. Generally, their freshly baked breads are soft, fluffy, and with good ratio of fragrant fillings. We also like that they arenโt overly greasy or sweet, and additive/ preservative free.
Our favourites were the ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ง ($1.50) and ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ง ($1.50). The former had flavourful curry potato filling with a good level of spicy kick and the bun was topped with addictive crisp crumbs. The latter was hearty with its savory tuna and corn fillings. Pro tip: toast these savory buns if youโd like added textural contrast of a crisp outer layer while retaining a soft and fluffy interior.

Saw some reviews of Yi Jia bakery on Facebook so popped in to try.
Other than the hot tea , everything was bad , right down to the service .
The toast was stale so when you chew on it , it tastes like a dried out sponge .
The egg tart which I didnโt bother to feature was so sweet and the pastry was limp . Asked for it to be warmed up but no such service available even though this was clearly a bakery .
Just come for the drinks - Kopi and tea.
Skip the breads and cakes ( which are made with margarine not real butter ) . Not worth it .
I think the standard of the cream puffs has dropped SEVERELY from the last time I've been here 2 years ago. The rum ball was dry and required all my post-workout energy to break apart. Do not recommend either anymore, sadly. Breads are still decent though! It's a pity cos this used to be my favorite bakery ever when I was schooling nearby in JC.
Light, fluffy & (kinda melts in your mouth) kaya toast is so good. Never had I felt this kind of texture in my mouth before. Kaya & butter just enough for the chunks of bread. $1.10/pc
