The savory braised peanut created a contrast with the sweet gravy which went perfectly with the duck. For those who might don't like sweet gravy, you dip it into their spicy homemade chili sauce. Not a bad eat. .

Crispy honey-glazed skin which was semi-sweet also came with a tinge of smokiness from the grill. Loved how savoury and juicy the meat is, though it was a wee bit greasy. This was at the Old Airport Road Food Central #01-90 but they have other outlets elsewhere as well. Spring chicken $8, wings $1.20

Craving for some HK-style Chee Cheong Fun so went to the nearest one after having my regular cuppa. As much as I like the one I have at Chong Pang, this one seems to be of more adequate thickness, therefore absorbing the light soy sauce better. Not to mention the prawns here are actually bigger and fresher too!

Had always been dying to try the Claypot Laksa stall here having passed by it for ages and am finally glad to have given it the shot. There is no reason why one wouldn't love that thick Laksa gravy which comes with curry-like flavours but less jelak with strong coconut and rempah flavours. And when you add ingredients like fresh prawns and hum, it gets all the merrier. A good word of advice: If you don't mind spicy food, just add the chili for more shiokness; it does come with a good kick that would give the Claypot Laksa enough heat that makes you want to slurp on the gravy till it's all wiped out even on a hot sweaty day like the day I had it.

Not the prettiest plate by far but certainly one of the tastiest I've had in recent times. A glorious mess of pork cutlet, tender squid, cabbage and fried egg with sweet dark soya sauce sits atop a bed of rice. All of this is drenched in a fragrant, coconut-y curry sauce. The star of the dish is of course the crispy pork cutlet - a thin layer of expertly spiced deep-fried breading encasing juicy pork fillet within. Though I am loathe to use such a lazy suffix, this was aptly PORKALICIOUS. $5.70 for this lordly meal.

[Keong Siak] We are all living in such a high-paced society that makes us neglect all the simple things in life. From time to time, we should take a well deserved break, sip some kopi, have some toast and just watch the world goes by. One such place that I will recommend is the iconic Tong Ah Eating House that serves some pretty darn good quintessential coffee and toast, or you can call it the Chinese "brunch" to make it sound cooler. The art of making coffee though the sock and scrapping off the burnt bits from the toast using the sharp edges of a milk can top dates back to many years and this practice is still being applied today at Tong Ah. No need for any eggs benedict, waffles or pancakes, you just need to order a set of crispy thin toast kaya or fresh toast with kaya, soft boiled eggs and a cup of kopi. After which, sit by the roadside table and appreciate the simple things that mean something. #hawkerpedia

I generally steer clear of Celebrity Chef restaurants in Singers but I'll gladly head back to this anytime. Especially with the well priced weekend lunches at both JR and L'Atelier. Review on www.ms-skinnyfat.com Active link in bio!

Pardon us if you come across sounding ā€˜cheapo’, but we did notice an ā€œEarly Evening Dinner at L’Atelier de JoĆ«l Robuchonā€, in which a 3-course dinner would be served at $40++. A value-for-money promotion, though the catch is that the meal was offered 5:30pm to 6:30pm.

Considered to be one of the best sushi restaurants outside Japan, Shinji certainly lives up to its name. Albeit extremely pricey, you get incredibly fresh sushi, and an unparalleled dining experience. Plus, you get to interact with the chefs while enjoying delicately prepared nigiri sushi with very clean flavours. You'll be planning to save for your next visit even before you leave.
