This is a great choice if you wish to sample their in-house sourdough loaves in its purest form - a selection of sliced and toasted Wave (white), Field (wholemeal), Rock (rye) and Valley (fruit), to go with butter or olive oil. I particularly like how the salted butter gives off a strong, pleasant aroma, as well as the touch of salt in their good quality olive oil. Wave, Field and Rock go well with either of the two, but the Valley is best enjoyed on its own in my opinion!

What I really disliked, however, were the burnt parts of the bread as they gave a bitter aftertaste to the otherwise delicious starter. I also didn't appreciate that they served this - a simple starter - only 30mins after my order was placed.

Yet another excellent dish that was well-executed. The generous serving of chicken was juicy and had a beautifully roasted skin that gave the meat an extra oomph. The fries were crispy and nicely salted too. Thumbs up!

Thank you Burpple Beyond for introducing me to this hidden gem.

Very, very impressed with this dish considering its price point and the eatery's reputation. I mean, its not any big, well-known name but the food here is pretty spectacular. The duck meat was fall-of-the-bone tender and surrounded by a thin layer of crispy skin. Paired with truffle mash, Thai asparagus, mushrooms, mandarin oranges and duck jus, this dish is worth every penny even without Burpple Beyond's 1-for-1 deal. I only wish the skin was crispier and the truffle aroma stronger, but I'm just nitpicking here.

Essentially spaghetti with a medley of seafood in white wine spinach sauce. Unfortunately, the only nice part of this dish was the perfectly al-dente noodles; the seafood was just alright and the sauce could've been more fragrant (would prefer a stronger garlic or wine taste to it!).

A little pricey for this quality but thanks to Burpple Beyond for the 1-for-1 deal!

Baked in a traditional brick oven, this pizza carries slight earthy notes. The crust is thin and crispy on the edges, but unfortunately soggy in the middle. Paired with toppings that didn't quite make an impression and the almost non-existent mozzarella cheese, the Bismark is less shiok than it could have been.

A little pricey for this quality but thanks to Burpple Beyond for the 1-for-1 deal!

Situated just 2 mins away from AMK Hub, Coffee Tribe is a hole-in-the-wall eatery for traditional kopi, teh, toast and hot dishes like dimsum and rice bowls. My parents enjoy their coffee ($1.50), which is thick and aromatic, and I like their no-frills Tuna Onion Sandwich ($5 with coffee/tea) that they packed full of tuna and toasted till crisp.

Nothing is fancy here, just good ol' local delights set in a cute tribal-themed cafe. As I dig into my Soft Boiled Eggs with Traditional Toast ($3.80 with coffee/tea), I overheard another customer commenting that the Nonya Mee Siam ($3.90) is delicious. Do give your support to this humble family-owned business!

Considering this as a healthy take on burgers, I would say that it's done pretty alright. The steamed prawn patty is bouncy, much like an in-between of otah and fishcake. The creamy and mildly-spiced laksa yogurt sauce complements the patty well - I only wished there was more sauce drizzled on top (currently, it was only spread on the bottom bun). Thanks to the crunchy kale and flaxseed-topped steamed bun, the otherwise soft burger would be lacking in textures.

The only gripe I have with this dish is the charred edamame. I guess this is when food should remain as how it is - I very much prefer the Japanese way of boiling and lightly tossing the edamame in salt to this charred and spicy version.

Got this with another main at the price of one thanks to Burpple Beyond!

This is the most number of shrimps (I believe there are at least 30) I've ever seen in a pasta dish 😱 but who's complaining when you get at least 2 shrimps for every twirl of pasta 😌 The truffle scent is subtle, but I like that it wasn't overpowering (hence jelat). Break the yolk and give it a good toss, it'll add a nice creamy coating to the angel hair that I'd have preferred firmer!

Gave up trying to take a glamorous shot here because it's going to get messy anyway. The captain's boil comes with Sri Lankan crab, tiger prawns, Venus clams, Loligo squids, bratwurst sausages, corn on the cob, potato and onion all boiled till cooked and served with three dipping sauces - lemon garlic butter, Thai green chilli and regular red chilli. However, I wouldn't recommend this dish because the seafood weren't fresh enough to be tasty on their own - they were really plain and needed the help of the dips. Would get the seasoned seafood next time!

Got 2 for the price of 1 thanks to Burpple Beyond!

Pardon the bad photo, but each bag of pasta has more seafood than it looks! While the linguine isn't al-dente, they're sauteed in a tasty sweet & sour brown sauce that's absolutely fragrant once the staff cut open the bag. The tiger prawns and venus clams were fairly fresh, but the sauce really took the show 👍

This cafe is not the easiest to access, but it's one where you'll want to head to for a peaceful and relaxing nook. Bread Créateur specialises in artisan breads and croissant varieties, so don't come here if you're looking for cakes and ice cream!

For first timers who wants a taste of everything, get the Chocolate Almond Banana ($4.50) - essentially a combo of their Pain aux Chocolate ($4.50), Chocolate Banana ($5) and Almond Croissant ($4). You get a bit of the flakiness from the croissant layers, slight bitterness from the Belgium chocolate, and sweetness from the marzipan and sliced bananas. It's great, but I'll stick to a single full-fledged flavour the next time because there's too little of every component 😂

The Charcoal Bacon and Cheese ($5.50) is a good savoury option, with a chewy bread and salty bacon and cheese for pleasure, but the charcoal is rather redundant and I'd like the exterior a little crispier.

Compared to their signature Biang Biang Noodles, this dish has more punchy flavours. Sandwiched between those nicely toasted flat bread lies a helping of heavily-seasoned pork strips, with bits of capsicum for crunch. The spices definitely shine through this dish, but it's a bit over for someone like me who has lighter palates.
