Proved worthy for its signature title for its really addictive and sticky sweet and sour sauce which had a tinge of honey sweetness with hints of vinegar used to give a sweet yet tangy flavour profile. Admittedly the meat could have been a bit more tender, but it was still rather decent to chew on.
I also got the Pomme Fromage ($6) which is a delightful cheesecake with apricot sauce. The Mille Feuille is definitely nicer to look at but the cheesecake was the one that stole my heart. Thanks @dairyandcream for the recommendation!
From Yam & Sweet Potato ($8) to Grilled Squid ($12) and Skillet Roasted Escargots ($15). Now it's time to dig in!
Rise and shine, champs ~ said in as sing-song a tone as I can muster with my currently croaky voice.
One of the failproof faves at bacon-centric OMB is this trio of quail eggs swathed in bacon and baked, and served on a bed on rosti; this lattermost was done brilliantly well – evenly golden and crispy across the surfaces, but soft and well-cooked inside.
Cheers to the weekends before booking in again on Sunday and the upcoming 3 day outfield! But first, do drop by Chock Full of Beans if you are in the Changi Village vicinity for some super duper cute latte art on your Iced Latte. Opt for a wide array of characters and if you are lucky, you might even get a 3D latte art such as a Totoro or Baymax, subject to availability. A chilled out laid-back cafe where you can just spend an afternoon there and watch the day zooms by.
This was fluffier, spongier and more well-balanced than it looks - that amount of cream cheese frosting tho. Perfect to go with an iced coffee on a hot day.
Whammied by the flu bug and even my voice has left the building 😶 Need some nourishing comfort food pronto.
Yet another vegetarian dish that was rather impressive in Catalunya's menu. This Oyster Mushrooms were partially crisp at certain sides, yet maintaining a plump texture at the same time so it is pretty interesting to eat. The pesto sauce adds a bit of flavour and tinge of zestiness to break the otherwise flat (but delicious) earthy flavour that dominates the entire dish. Part of the Executive Set Lunch menu that is worth $38++ that changes every two weeks.
There's really a lot going on in this simple-sounding dish which looked and tasted more like a Risotto than what it is claimed on the menu. It has a creamy consistency that was cheesy, carrying flavours similar to a lobster bisque but totally vegetarian. Pretty mind-blowing, but our stomachs were really full at this point of time we had to endure seeing a quarter left in the bowl brought away by the wait staff ...
The original Spanish Omelette that comes with onions and potatoes within. Honestly this is the version we would prefer when put against the deconstructed version because this just simply felt real in contrast in terms of texture. We were impressed with the level of skill here; crisp on the outside, but the omelette was runny within. Again one of the simple and humble dishes served here, but a homely and comforting one that got us hooked for more!
Easily one of the best that I had.
Having operated around as a pop-up concept, L'Eclair has finally opened their cafe at the fringe of Somerset at 190 Clemenceau Ave. The Lemon Meringue Eclair maintains as my favourite out of the two; well filled with lemon curd in the inside, the tart filling was mediated with the slightly sweet marshmallow-like meringue sitting atop, and the Choux pastry isn't too limp nor dry. Matcha came with the heavy infusion of White Chocolate flavours over the top, but the matcha cream was thick though for a matcha lover I would have expected more bitterness of the aroma of matcha. Still I guess I would be back some day to try more flavours; most of the Eclairs look pretty interesting to try!
