Definitely a must-try at The Refinery, the Salted Egg Onion Rings can be seen ordered by almost every table. Crisp and served hot, the battered onion rings are surprisingly sweet which goes really well with the salted egg yolk custard sauce and if the sauce is insufficient you can ask for more!

The queue was never-ending, even after lunch time. •

Dad strongly recommended the Power Chendol and Penang Ice Kachang (both $2). The gula melaka here is superb! The consistency is like an extremely thick syrup. However, the 料 here is quite miserable.

Unlike the cubed pieces that is usually served, the ones here come elongated and in chunks, and in generous amounts. The sweetness here seemed a tad different, as though it's a combination of Thai-style chili and Honey and the yam sticks seemed sweetened beneath the batter too. It's crispy, and every stick makes you want to reach out for another. And when nothing is left, you might even go down to the onions and leftover sauce. It's that good!

Looking at yesterday's dim sum spread has me longing for the long weekend that just passed 😢 Counting down to my Bali trip next month now!

Here's Bubur Chacha creme brûlée $9.90, taste even better than it sounds. Unique combination topped w a layer of caramelized sugar, key characteristic of creme brûlée.

One of the stops we made on our food trail yesterday – finally got to savour these photogenic beauties! At an average of $8 apiece, I must say they're quite pricey; each bite works out to $2! That said, I do think every one we had was very well-balanced in flavour and I was hard-pressed to pick a favourite between the Ispahan, Lemon Meringue and Kaya.

If you're visiting today, put the limited-edition Kaya eclair on your hitlist because it's the last day to get your hands on one, at least for some time. The eggy pandan jam – my favourite bit of this eclair, is luscious, velvety, and fragrant with snowflakes of dessicated coconut. Perhaps I took far too long taking photos that the eclair's body of choux pastry had gone slightly soggy and lost any crispness it rightfully possessed, but that softness was nicely contrasted with crunchy-chewy biscuits, anyway.

Out of the 50 restaurant brands, 12 are heritage restaurants that have been in the local culinary scene for decades. One of them is Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant which was established in 1977.

Featuring Sautéed Bird's Nest with Egg White from Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant for #singaporerestaurantmonth. Bird's Nest sautéed with fluffy egg white & a sprinkle of Jinhua Ham (金華火腿). Rich, creamy with slight smokiness from the ham. Savoury bird's nest instead of the usual tong sui/dessert. This dish will be available from 17 July to 2 Aug only.

The "Ma Bo Lor Mee" stall has a few laminated news articles stuck to the front of it but after trying the classic $2.50 version, I didn't think it was all that rave-worthy. Don't get me wrong, the taste is decent and it's very affordable so I can understand the attraction, Plus customers get to freely plonk on all the raw garlic, chili sambal and black vinegar they want.
What I feel makes this place stand out though is they also offer "lor mee" with the kind of toppings that you know is soooooo bad for you, yet resistance is futile. We're talking deep-fried fish and chicken chop that's super crunchy yet pretty grease-free, the batter shattering once your teeth meets it. Between the two, we preferred the fish because of its thinner coating of batter. Which meant my decision to get an extra $2 serving of it was a good one. For 8 pieces, that's really worth it.
"Ma Bo Lor Mee" can be found at #01-76 inside the Blk 216 Bedok North Hawker Centre.

Din Tai Fung's Steamed Chilli Crab Xiao Long Bao (4 for $7.50)! These dumplings are filled with fresh crabmeat in spicy crab-based broth and are 40% bigger than their usual XLBs.

One of the best types of days: Thursdays that feel like Fridays 😌 .

Here's some eggporn from one of Bridge's weekend brunch items, featuring poached eggs cushioned with Blackforest ham and bacon atop toasted English muffins. Very nice overall, though I thought the mild, buttery champagne hollandaise could use a touch more lemon juice.

A box for $5. The reason why I took it with the cover on was because the top of the cakes were stuck to the cover and peeled off when I removed it. This didn't have gula melaka in the middle which I would prefer, but chocolate. •

On a side note, sometimes you meet really unreasonable people who spoil your day with crazy accusations and demands. But, I must say I am thankful for the people who stood by me and gave me support when I needed it.

Reminds me of the good o days. Wonder how much is one right now!
