The 3 types of chilli here is what makes Siam Square Mookata special. The meats are well-seasoned with sesame oil, great for grilling. Try the fish pasta if you're feeling adventurous!
You'll be surprised at how good this hawker stall's local desserts are. Straightforward, sincere and potent. That's what the desserts at Jin Jin scream, in all their sweet glory. The Power Chendol is generous with beans and gula melaka, and is nicely lemak. The Gangster Mango Ice is an indulgent bowl of gorgeous durian puree over chunks of sweet mango. Definitely one for the durian lovers! Share these sweet treats please...

This bakery really takes you back to your childhood. Just like the good ol' days, these traditional buns are stuffed chockful of ingredients like otah, hae bee hiam, coconut, kaya, luncheon meat... The list is almost neverending. They do super simple banana and walnut cakes as well. The best way to enjoy these baked goods is fresh out of the oven, which is not that hard because the buns just keep flying off the shelves. The fact that people buy them by the box is testament to how good they are. Bonus points for cheap prices!

Everyone knows char kway teow is a sinfully delicious dish, and good ones are hard to find. The char kway teow here is coated in a sweet, special mixture of sauces and with noticeably more egg than elsewhere. Plump cockles, beansprouts and good ol' crunchy pork lard make this even better. Freshly fried, greasy char kway teow laden with wok hei? It doesn't get better than this.

Trademarks of good chwee kueh are the kueh, chye poh (preserved radish) and chilli. This simple dish can be hard to perfect but Jian Bo serves one of the best you can find. The kueh is smooth but still has a good bite to it, the chye poh is not overly salty, and the chilli is so very satisfying. It can get quite oily, but this dish is truly worth the calories once in a while, if the craving hits.

Ok, we're gonna close one eye, and consider the humble Swiss roll as a form of cake. Simple yet extremely delicious, we love how good things come in a roll. These classic Swiss rolls are perfect for a simple afternoon tea with the family, with traditional flavors like kaya, durian and mango. Those who queue for these rolls often buy 5 to 10 rolls at a go, distributing them among family members and colleagues. We recommend you do the same!
Toa Payoh seems like a hot favourite spot for ice-cream parlours of the late; The Little Prince Creamery is the newest of the lot here. Opened by the same people behind The Little Prince Cafe, this outlet serves as a extension of their first outlet at Somme Road. This new outlet only serves ice-cream with waffles for now during its soft-launch period, with only limited flavours available. Look past that, and sink into the decor where fans of the fairytale might be able to relate to the hand drawn decor and you might just sink into the environment. They have plans to serve similar bakes that are currently served at their Somme Road outlet, as well as mains and other dishes that they are currently unable to serve as they are not able to cook within the old outlet.
Always finding the same old Hong Kong desserts and wanting to find a place with a bit of difference? Hee Kee Desserts would probably be the spot to hit, for it serves up pretty new and interesting Hong Kong desserts that feels creative from Coconut Cheong Fun to Liu Sha Tang Yuan. If you are in for something more western, you can also choose to go for the Chocolate Lava Cake for a different kind of bursting goodness. A great spot to hit especially if you are looking for dessert but just don't want to settle for things too western.
