This slab of pork chop is really cooked to perfection. Doesn’t lose the texture on the outside but super tender on the inside and melts in your mouth. Paired with pumpkin purée and busses sprouts. It’s really not easy to cook such a big slab of meat well but summer hill really does a good rendition. 42 bucks but I would pay to eat this again! No GST and no service charge here for now.
Salad with marinated tomatoes and ricotta on top. Very refreshing and the tomatoes are so sweet. Great way to start the meal! A little pricey at 16 though.
I settled for 323 Food & Beverage Western Food because the other shop I wanted was closed! :/ This was a decent portion at 6 bucks but I have a story to tell.
The menu says chicken chop and there was another item that said black pepper lamb chop so I assumed that they weren’t gonna put the black pepper but alas, my chicken chop came with black pepper which I really didn’t like. :/// Sigh but wasn’t gonna make a fuss out of it. The chicken was relatively tender. But other than that, the fries (probably processed), baked beans (probably from the cans) and coleslaw were pretty meh. The people manning the stall were friendly but I think I’d probably try another dish like the codfish if I ever order from this stall again.
The waffle was too ’hot’ for me to push it up for a great pic. This was freshly baked on the spot and makes for a great mid day snack. I had mine with chocolate and it was spread generously on the waffle.
Not over cooked, soft with crispy ends, makes a good waffle! This hole in the wall shop is cute and certainly part of the old school vibes given off by the whole estate.
Not the best pic but a great curry puff. Willin Low is on point for his curry puff recommendations. You can tell that the pastry is well made and the filling is solid with potatoes. Slightly smaller than the size of my palm, this was fresh and warm, and down in my stomach within a minute. I would definitely get this for a snack in a heart beat
Without entertainer, I found KARA Cafe rather pricy for the quality of food. The avocado and the slaw did not look nor taste fresh. The fish was reasonably battered and the rest was so so. On a good note, my tropical mango smoothie was well blended and refreshing.
Hope KARA cafe can refine the quality of food because I remembered it to be better previously.
Back to one of my fav brunch places which does a good rendition of everything on the menu. This fluffy pancake came with a generous dose of cornflakes to add to the texture. I added just a little a syrup which was good enough for me.
Great great burrata with great texture and really felt super fresh. Went super well with everything on the plate - the salad, the sun dried tomatoes (sweet), pumpkin and also the cured ham. Great appetizer to share between 2 to 4 people! Had the barramundi which was packed with seafood and gnocchi, chewy with a light creamy sauce.
Rubato is hidden at Greenwood Avenue but the crowd doesn’t shy away. Will be back to try more mains.
This glutinous chicken is one of the recommended items at 2.50. Very palatable and look at the large mushroom and chunks of meat given. I enjoyed this much more than my mee sua kueh which came really fast but I think it was just taken off the takeaway counter. Having said that, it’s been ages since I’ve been to swee choon and I must say business is BOOMING. I came at 5.50pm (opened at 6pm) and there was a snaking long queue of both locals and tourists. Dim sum is generally served fast and I guess the affordable meals and large variety of HK and Shanghai Dim Sum keep people going back!
Like the texture of the Hokkein Mee with a very good mix of both the beehoon and yellow noodles. It’s the soggy type which I usually avoid but this one was not overwhelming. Be warned that the chili is super spicy. But overall, a good plate of Hokkein mee.
I guess I can understand why just the recipe was priced at 2 million. Much better than the average hawker stall. Char Siew is not fatty but tender enough. I would prefer a lighter sauce but I guess all the available sauces (towards the thicker and richer taste) went well together with to bring out the tastiness of the star of the plate - the char siew.
Don’t think there’s much I could complain about this. Bun was buttery and warm and the lobster came with a light creme fraiche. Much better than some other lobster rolls that I’ve tried in Singapore. Sufficient cheese on the fries and also the salad was tasty with the right seasoning.
Service was attentive as well. I think lobster roll is only served for lunch so super glad that i jumped at this treat for myself. TGIF!
