Matcha Cookie Bun ($2 promo)

Strong bitter undertones exude from the plenteous matcha cream filling. Not overpoweringly so, balanced out by the mildly sweet crumble topping.

In comparison to the ones Iโ€™ve seen on IG, it seems that theyโ€™ve at least doubled or tripled the amount of cream since them ๐Ÿ˜ณ Pretty worth the $2 if you ask me.

LOVED the injeolmi cream An amount this generous would usually be pretty off-putting to me, but its impressive light and airiness was hard to complain about.

I felt that the bits of red bean merely serve as an added texture to contrast the cream, as the scant amount really lacks any noticeable flavour. Perhaps a more prominent red bean could add a nice dimension in flavour, but honestly, I didnโ€™t mind the injeolmi being the center of attention.

I liked it best chilled. Overall really balanced texturally and flavour-wise, worth a buy and a rebuy!

Iced Hojicha Latte
SUPER GAO!! Itโ€™s thick and smooth and not powdery at all, with nothing but the rich and deep roasted flavours characteristic of quality hojicha.

Iced Sweet Potato Latte
Might be a peculiar flavour to some but I loved it! Really thick and milky and incredibly fragrant.

Living up to the reputation of one of their most popular dishes, the ๐‚๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฌ ($๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”) was incredible. The plump mussels bathed in the Indian curry, that held a lingering spicy kick, and a tang of sourness. The bold flavours of the curry went well with the pillowy soft mantous, with an impressively crisp exterior.

a comforting bowl of ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข ๐‚๐ซ๐š๐› ๐‘๐ข๐ฌ๐จ๐ญ๐ญ๐จ ($๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”), with meaty pieces of fresh prawn. The firm indication of a good risotto in texture, consistency and flavour was there. However, the addition of the runny egg made it a bit too rich and overpowering, considering that the portion of risotto was rather small to begin with.

The ๐๐š๐ง ๐’๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐’๐ž๐š๐›๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ ($๐Ÿ๐Ÿ) was a clashing of strong flavours that somehow still managed to agree with each other. The dish included a rich assam broth, strong caramelised pumpkin seeds, longtong and bitter charred vegetable. I wish the seabass was a touch more tender, but overall it was an interesting dish that was put together well.

As with all the seafood here, the fish in the ๐‚๐š๐ง๐ญ๐จ ๐†๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ ($๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•) was fresh. Perfectly cooked, the light flavours of the delicate grouper allowed the broth to shine through. Thankfully so, as the broth was incredible, with Chinese-oriented flavours that were rich but still light on the palette.

I liked the ๐‡๐จ๐ฃ๐ข๐œ๐ก๐š ๐’๐ฐ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐‘๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ ($๐Ÿ•.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ). The cream held a pleasant deep roasted tea fragrance, kicked up a notch by the strong and aromatic bitter ganache on top. The sponge wasnโ€™t the light and airy chiffon-like texture I expected, almost erring on slightly chewy, but I personally didnโ€™t mind it

The ๐˜๐ฎ๐š๐ง ๐˜๐š๐ง๐  ๐‚๐ซ๐ฎ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ง ($๐Ÿ“) has the crispy flaky exterior youโ€™d expect from a good cruffin, but the interior was a bit too greasy for my liking. Also, the flavour of the yuan tang filling just wasnโ€™t there. Leaning heavier on the coffee side, it lacked a strong tea aroma, and tasted rather one-note.

The gravy was delightfully creamy and nutty, a good amount of sweetness coming through without being too cloying. It has a light fragrance, preventing the sauce from being too overpowering. I love how it wasnโ€™t oily or watery, and the sauce coated every strand of the thin vermicelli noodle.

I really appreciated how generous he was with the ingredients, consisting of cockles, lean pork slices, cuttlefish, prawn and kang kong.

Iโ€™m not usually a fan of matcha but I really did enjoy this one! The matcha flavour wasnโ€™t too intense, prominent but more on the lighter side, with the thin layer of azuki beans coming through with a subtle nutty taste.

I prefer this matcha to the plain one, the bitter undertones and the red beans bring more depth to it. But, like the plain one, the crepe layers themselves are not the thinnest nor do they have the smoothest texture, but for a packaged crepe cake I really canโ€™t complain!

The beancurd filling is silky smooth, with the slightest tinge of sweetness! I canโ€™t imagine someone with a sweet tooth liking this though, as it is rather light, almost erring on the side of being bland. But I personally really enjoyed the soft and light beancurd!

However, I felt that the crust didnโ€™t balance the light beancurd well. They definitely err on the thicker side, but are also fairly inconsistent in thickness. ๐Ÿฅด The crust I had on the first day was almost as thick as the filling, and was so hard!! The tart I had the next day faired much better though, with a better filling to tart ratio, and it was a lot softer!
