Everytime and anytime I'm craving some liu sha bao, Mouth Restaurant is my place first (prolly only) pick. The crust is polo-bao-like, sweet and blistered with a good crunch; but the bomb is what it encases. That silky smooth, rich and luscious salted egg custard is THE best I've had. It has that that sandy texture, and nails the balance between salty and sweet. And it's never too oily. I first tried this 4 years ago, and till now I haven't had anything better. #FindComfortHere

[Bugis] How can there be a meal without desserts at the end? Besides the incredible savouries, Jing Hua Restaurant serves some pretty darn good desserts as well such as the Crispy Red Bean Pancake ($10), which is only made to order. Crispy and hot on the outside, mochi-like in the middle and sweet on the inside with the red bean filling. You will leave the restaurant with a happy tummy and even a greater desire to return in the near future. #hawkerpedia

the char siew sou, crispy duck skin and liu sha pao were the best i've ever tasted. but...the rest were so-so, they weren't bad but not fantastic. the worst was the duck meat... it was so tough. my family barely touched the plate of duck meat. would come back here again, but only for the char siew sou and lsb.

This is the hollow version, without any toppings inside as we figured it will be too filling for us.
I have never tried this before, baby swore by this, and indeed, this isn't oily and is nice!

One more day to TGIF and the last day to enjoy Clinton Street Baking’s Blackberries & Lemon Curd Pancakes ($21)! The first of the four flavours they are pushing out for the month, this fluffy creation studded with fresh blackberries wasn’t cloy at all though certainly filling. Warm, thick and soft, the stacks were the perfect texture - substantial yet airy. A whiff of buttery fragrance amped up with a touch of zing from the lemon curd just brought me to pancake heaven. Nicely balanced, the pool of blackberry syrup also provided a subtle sweetness that came through after the initial tartness and sourness. Definitely will be back to try the Strawberry Shortcake with Vanilla Crumb available on the last week!

Weak spot for anything rose-flavoured so I had to get this - plus I was alone so it meant the shimmery gigantic choux puff with all that crazy generous cream is all MINE. I liked how light the cream was and it wasn't the perfumey kind of rose, nor was it overly sweet (also thought I tasted a hint of raspberry?!). Absolutely loved it but having said that, I'm probably the only one around who thinks it could do with a little less filling though.

Filled with lots of carrot shavings, Whisk's carrot cake is dense, balanced and moist. It reminds me of the one I had at Jiyugaoka, one of the best bakery cafes in Seoul. Pair it with a cuppa, and you're all set for a lazy afternoon

Tangy curd and sweet, fluffy meringue cupped in a crisp, thin tart shell. Love that yellow sunshine colour.

($2.50) the inside is generously packed with banana slices. All pastries are baked in-house by their team of elderly staff 👵🏼👴🏼 you can be sure you're getting quality bakes here 😚

Formerly an online cake shop, Cake Avenue has now opened a cafe along Lorong Kilat which serves their signature cakes as well as a small selection of food options. Go for their charmingly-named Double Dog Baked Rice ($14.90) — baked rice with two jumbo sausages in cheese and marinara sauce -— and end the meal with their beautiful Chocolate Red Velvet Cake. This cafe also hosts themed parties as well as cupcake decoration classes!
