I paid $51.10 for this table-ful of food for two persons. Easy to see why this eatery is my go-to whenever I feel like having grilled fish, right?
Because it is always large, fleshy and has an appetising smokiness and lightly salty taste, the Shima Hokke (dried mackerel) tends to be my usual pick for fish. It is served beautifully grilled, with a salad, rice, miso soup, pickles and an appetiser. Japanese tea is complimentary too if I am not mistaken.
As substantial and thoughtfully balanced as the set meal is, I rarely stop at it, preferring to add on whatever else catches my eye at the ordering station. They always have random types of fresh produce on display in the chiller (I saw plump oysters and huge prawns today) as well as other popular Japanese items. In the above spread, you should be able to make out the grilled Eringi (King Oyster Mushroom, $3.50), cups of Chawanmushi in mushroom and crab flavours and the Natto (fermented soya beans) I had to get as part of our meal.

Ma Zi Lu is one of the most famous brands for Lanzhou beef noodles. There are 8 types of noodles to choose from and this is the Signature Beef Noodles.

Tried this first time here at Wisma Atria food republic food court at Level 4. It tasted alright similar to the one at Queensway Shopping Centre.

Tons of crispiness, deliciousness and sinfulness. Add that to the whole 'it's a Good Friday morning' and 'this is local food' vibes... Our trip here paid off and we were all happy :)

Croissant was no doubt flaky and buttery, topped with crunchy almond flakes. Just felt that the almond cream spread between the croissant could be less sweet as it overpowers the taste of the croissant.

Pork belly, mutton, chicken and bread. They're all fine, but the true star was the partially hidden pork neck (wooden skewers). Pricier, but certainly one of the best Chinese BBQ I've tasted.

Admit it: you can't find many places in Singapore that sells Beef Murtabak. More so when you order a larger portion and the ground beef is generously spread around the Murtabak. And I think this goes really well with fish curry!

Strange thing about Zam Zam though, is that they do not sell Roti Prata here. And the other strange thing is that my food is served piping hot within 1 minute of ordering! It was also observed that ready-packed Murtabak is available for roadside pick-up during those peak hours! No worries about lack of parking lots in the vicinity if this is what you are looking for.

Pork trotters in black vinegar. Nicely done, the trotters were cooked till a gelatinous texture and the vinegar was sufficiently sour and yet a tinge of sweetness.

A real hidden gem: delicious homely dishes at extremely reasonable prices in a cute environment. Let the classy Ms Tammie Loke advise you on what to eat, but you shouldn’t miss the signature char siew, the mushroom stew in broth, ngoh hiang, tofu (various dishes), and noodles. Street parking can be frustrating in this area. Fortunately, there’s always ample parking at Mak Plaza or Sultan Plaza across the street.

Becoming my fave place to chill post YTT. This was good but a tad sweet on it's own. Great with a cuppa tea though!
