"Made with premium wheat flour and infused with artisanal butter by Jean-Yves Bordier", my crepe was paper-thin and just ever so slightly stretchy when pulled apart, which is what a good crepe should be like. As for the housemade caramel sauce, it was delicious, but no trace of salt could be found. I recommend adding on a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream($4) to up the indulgence factor.

Marble table tops, white rattan chairs and big potted pants — Fynn's is a gorgeous showstopper in South Beach Tower, be it day or night. If you're looking to have a more intimate conversation, opt to sit behind the glass panels — it's quieter and more comfortable with the long padded bench than the main sitting area. You won't go wrong ordering the signature items that are bolded on the menu. Burger lovers can find comfort in the All-Beef Burger ($22) — a juicy beef patty topped with gruyere cheese, slathered with the house sauce and sandwiched between house made buns. The flawless Grilled Chicken with Fried Wild Rice ($19.50) that comes with edamame, snow peas, egg and pickled vegetables is a wholesome one-dish meal. Indulge in the hearty Heirloom Tomato Salad ($23) served with basil granita only if your wallet can afford it. Be sure to save space for their Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie ($12.50) — an upsized version of a Mrs Field's cookie served in a hot skillet pan, topped with vanilla ice cream and Guinness syrup!

Tight on cash but bent on impressing your date? Head to this cosy restaurant near Kembangan MRT for quality Western fare at very affordable prices. In general, the pastas are more competitively priced than their meat mains yet equally tasty — try the Duck Confit Tagliatelle ($16) or Gnocchi ($17) with roasted corn and corn puree. If you have a larger budget, go straight for the Flat Iron Steak ($28), a seasonal dish served only from Fridays to Sundays. While lean, the beef is incredibly tender, and comes topped with zingy chimichurri. For dessert, have the Popcorn Flan ($13) to share. It's like popcorn, but made so much better with trimmings like hazelnut brittle and caramel foam.

The set lunch ($30 for two-course, $38 for three-course, $58 for five-course) at this highly acclaimed restaurant (it's no.1 on our 2016 Hot 100 list!) is a value-for-money way to experience chef Rishi Naleendra's take on modern Australian cuisine. Get the three-course for a holistic experience that won't leave you feeling over-stuffed. The crispy-skinned Barramundi with charred lettuce, prawn floss and onion is an iconic main, but we also really enjoyed the complex profile of the Roast Pumpkin with spiced cashew nuts, kale and pumpkin seeds. Get the laksa-inspired dessert (if it's available) for something different — it's a really unique manly dish for those who don't fancy anything too sweet. We, on the other hand, loved the delicate flavours of the honeydew melon dessert.

This little hidden gem tucked away on Eastwood Road is one of Bedok's best kept secrets. The unbelievably affordable price tag on their lunch sets ($18 for two-course and $23 for three-course) makes this a great place to host a business lunch in the east without burning a hole in your wallet. It also helps that the friendly service staff are impeccably dressed, and that the food comes highly recommended by Burpple Tastemakers. There are multiple options for each course, of which the light yet flavoursome French Onion Soup and the Pan-seared Barramundi (top up $3) impressed us the most. The latter, which comes with an delightfully crispy skin, requires a top-up of $3 (totally worth it). End your meal with the decadent Double Fudge Chocolate Gateau that comes topped with crunchy chocolate pearls and cocoa nibs.

A selection of chicken and lamb kebab, served with rice and salads. Loved the flavors on the chicken. Soft, tender and juicy! Best ordered with a starter. $33.
Priced at $19.90 during lunch, this is every beef lover's dream come through. Pro tip: apply a pinch of wasabi on a slice of meat, then place it atop a small serving of rice. That's DIY wagyu beef sushi for you!

Got to chow down on some amazing, award-winning New England Chowder ($12.90 w/ the bread bowl) from USA's infamous Pike Place Chowder (known as Seattle Pike Chowder in Singapore). Now you don't have to travel and join the massive queues at Pike Place Market in Seattle to have a taste.
The soup packs loads of flavour and texture from fresh ingredients. I had to control myself from eating the entire bread bowl.
It also has another outlet in Pinacothèque de Paris at Fort Canning Arts Centre.
Their lunch menu consists of either 2 courses ($30) or 3 courses ($38) and pictured is one of their starters, the Braised Pork Shoulder served with morcilla (a blood sausage), pickled apple strips and turnips. The taste might be a tad too much to handle from the initial bite (as it’s a flavour combination that I have not had before) but the flavours slowly grow on you, whetting your appetite for the upcoming main.

Awesome possum hands-down mind-blowing ribs at Camp Kilo today. We thought it was good the first time we had it, but this second go was — if possible — even better. The ribs were moist, juicy, not entirely falling apart and still retaining a nice bite; and most importantly, generously slathered with that luscious BBQ sauce. What makes this different from other outstanding ribs I've tried, is how the meat was clearly well-seasoned and salted, tasty enough on its own without solely relying on the sauce for flavour.
An appetite-arousing aroma assaults your senses once the cover is removed, but once your saliva forms and expectations peak the fragrance quickly peters out. What’s left is essentially levelled-up and thicker economic bee hoon – which curiously leaves a slight powdery residue sensation on your lips – with the saving grace being some luxuriously phat and undeniably fresh prawns. 3.4/5
