Whatever your victory, celebrate it at VLV, a posh lounge and restaurant housed in a two-storey conservation building along Clarke Quay. Head to the 140-seater second floor, where its combination of lush interiors decorated with Chinese touches, impeccable service and eight-course set lunch ($98 for four pax) is set to win over any client of yours. You won't find many Chinese restaurants in Singapore offering eight courses for lunch at just $30 per person, so know that this is great bang for your buck! Out of the eight dishes we had, the pan fried carrot cake, sweet and sour Chilean seabass, and the braised noodles with enoki mushroom and bean sprout stood out. While they might sound like ordinary dishes that you can find on just about any other Chinese menu, these won us over with their flawless execution alongside the unique ambience.

If you work in the Tanjong Pagar area and have yet to savour the set lunch at boCHINche, it's time to right that wrong. This modern Argentinian restaurant serves what we reckon is the most value-for-money lunch set in this guide. The Prix Fixe Menu comes with a choice of Two Courses ($27) and Three Courses ($32, includes dessert) with dishes rotating weekly. Before heading down, check their Instagram for the latest menu. Thankfully, the crowd-favourite rib-eye steak is a mainstay — think 180g of meltingly tender Argentinian beef served with a side of wedges and a yummy chimichurri mayo. During our meal there, we thoroughly enjoyed the alternative main of prawn and scallop open lasagna, and their excellent dessert of sponge cake with mixed berries and yerba mate sorbet. Portions are generous, so we recommend sharing one dessert between two!

It is a wonder why Spago isn't packed everyday at lunch time. As Burppler Veronica Phua discovered, their Express Prix Fixe Menu ($45 for three courses) offers superb value for what they offer, and you get to enjoy the excellent cooking while taking in the view from the top of Marina Bay Sands. File this away for a lunch date to impress! Veronica is all praise for the "audacious flavours" of chef de cuisine Greg Bess' chicken "laksa" fried spring rolls, which she insists you dunk in the accompanying lime dipping sauce. She also enjoyed the main of grilled Angus beef burger, thanks to its pillowy house-baked buns and the smokiness of the juicy meat. The generous portion of golden fries the burger comes with, really, is a bonus. The dessert of coconut-passionfruit trifle is fixed, but we're not complaining. Pro-tip: Ask your server for a complimentary self-park coupon when you spend $75 and above for lunch; limited to one ticket per table.

Opened by South Korean chef-owner Sun Kim, who honed his chops in Waku Ghin and Tetsuya's in Sydney, Meta marries French cuisine with Asian flavours. Come for their Meta Executive Lunch Set ($48) — a three-course meal that is "an experience for the palate", according to Burppler Dex Neo. Don't be surprised to see interesting pairings on the menu like Hokkaido scallop served with pickled apple, baked raisins and yuzu basil oil, as well as slow-cooked beef cheek with a savoury parsnip miso paste on the side. The latter has been cooked for 40 hours — resulting in unbelievably tender beef that doesn't require any knife action. End your meal on a sweet note with the poached pear with ginger sorbet — it comes with the yummiest honey jelly and cookie crumble base.

Bedrock has long established its reputation for fine meats and stellar cooking, and we love how its warmly lit interiors offer an oasis of calm in bustling Somerset. While their steaks can be pricey when ordered off the ala carte menu, their steak set lunch ($58 for three courses) is truly value-for-money. The current menu offers a choice of a NY steak with classic bearnaise, a juicy wagyu minute steak with shallot sauce, and a rib eye served with thyme butter. If you're dining with a non-beef lover, fret not. Bedrock also offers seafood and poultry set menus ($38 for three courses), with options like a delicious-sounding pressed boneless corn-fed chicken with beluga lentils. As for dessert, we have our eyes set on the sticky stout and toffee pudding.

This little hidden gem tucked away on Eastwood Road is one of Bedok's best kept secrets. The unbelievably affordable price tag on their lunch sets ($23 for two-course and $28 for three-course) makes this a great place to host a business lunch in the east without burning a hole in your wallet. It also helps that the friendly service staff are impeccably dressed, and that the food comes highly recommended by Burpple Tastemakers. There are multiple options for each course, of which the light yet flavoursome French Onion Soup and the Pan-seared Barramundi (top up $3) impressed us the most. The latter, which comes with an delightfully crispy skin, requires a top-up of $3 (totally worth it). End your meal with the decadent Double Fudge Chocolate Gateau that comes topped with crunchy chocolate pearls and cocoa nibs.

The set lunch ($30 for two-course, $38 for three-course, $58 for five-course) at this highly acclaimed restaurant (it's no.1 on our 2016 Hot 100 list!) is a value-for-money way to experience chef Rishi Naleendra's take on modern Australian cuisine. Get the three-course for a holistic experience that won't leave you feeling over-stuffed. The crispy-skinned Barramundi with charred lettuce, prawn floss and onion is an iconic main, but we also really enjoyed the complex profile of the Roast Pumpkin with spiced cashew nuts, kale and pumpkin seeds. Get the laksa-inspired dessert (if it's available) for something different — it's a really unique manly dish for those who don't fancy anything too sweet. We, on the other hand, loved the delicate flavours of the honeydew melon dessert.

For a seriously underrated Japanese meal, take your business partner to Ryu's Japanese Restaurant and Sake Bar. This homely Japanese dining establishment on the first floor of Capitol Piazza is where you can get affordable three-course lunch sets. Prices start from $15 for the Tempura Udon Set, and goes upwards to $45 for the Okamochi Box Set, a hands-on dish that allows you to make your own sushi roll. Of all the sets, Burpple Tastemaker Justin Teo, who has visited Ryu's on multiple occasions, recommends the Stewed Iberico Pork Set ($25) that comes served with a side of daikon and black miso paste. He notes that dishes here are not overly seasoned so "it won't be mindblowingly shiok" but "it's all natural without superfluous seasoning". Be sure to keep a look out for the Nagasaki castella cake, a popular sponge cake dessert in Japan. It's made in-house and is said to be approved by chef Yamashita of Flor Patisserie!

Headed by acclaimed chef Jason Tan, this classy garden restaurant serves what they call French-inspired, gastro-botanica cuisine, which aims to celebrate sustainably sourced seasonal produce. Their Business Luncheon menu ($58 for three courses, $78 for four courses, available Tuesday to Saturday) offers an initiation to their one-Michelin-starred cooking. You'll be spoilt for choice with options that sound as delicous as they look — think Iberico pork with polenta, buckwheat and beurre noisette, and Patagonian toothfish with cauliflower, parmesan, garlic, hazelnut and lardo. Don't miss their signature "My Interpretation of Kaya Toast" for dessert! Pro-tip: This is one of the places that offers their set lunch menu on a weekend, so make a date for a Saturday feast!

For those who love their meats, this modern Australian spot on Purvis Street is perfect for a casual business lunch. The set lunch menu ($25 for two courses and $35 for three) is a great introduction to the magic these guys can do with meats. The starter of raw beef is kept simple, yet elevated with the interesting sprinkle of umami-rich prawn powder. Alternatively, start with the humble cauliflower that sits on cider vinegar cream and finished with a shavings of cured egg yolk. Burppler Amelia PW is all praise for the mains, with options that include a moist barramundi with bonito, beans and kelp, and a stellar Westholme wagyu flank (additional $10), which she declares was juicy, perfectly cooked and the star of her meal.

Located across from Alexandra Retail Centre, Portico Host's elegant dining room and its lush surrounds offer a quiet environment for business talk over lunch. Prices are a little steep, but the stellar dishes will impress. Portico's Signature Menu ($58) consists of their bestselling items, which you can choose to have as a three-course (two appetisers and one main) or two-course (one main and one dessert) meal. The items are fixed, with the three-course featuring an earthy wild mushroom soup, a tomato salad and the pan-seared Pulau Ubin sea bass. The two-course offers a chicken confit and their pretty-as-a-picture deconstructed blackforest dessert. If it's just you and your business partner, we recommend getting one three-course and one two-course to share — it's hearty without warranting a food coma back in the office, plus you get to try all their specialities.

For a casual Thai meal, head to celebrity chef David Thompson's Long Chim in Marina Bay Sands which marries upscale finishings with vibrant Bangkok street vibes. The set lunch ($25 for two courses, $30 for three courses, including a drink) is an affordable way to enjoy a taste of his cooking; better yet, gather a few friends so you can order more and try a little of everything! Burppler Muriel A is full of praise for the starter of miang prawn, where betel leaves are stuffed with dried prawns, nuts and loads of aromatics. She also declared the main dish of kanom jin noodle with mash prawn curry to be the highlight of her meal. Expect a rich and punchy coconut milk and turmeric curry, beautifully balanced with lemongrass and ginger. Listen to her when she says: "Pluck the basil leaves, mix that heavenly sauce with the chopped snake beans, pickled celery, bean sprouts and rice noodles thoroughly, then slurp, slurp, slurp!" Note that dishes here are heavily seasoned and will appeal to those who prefer punchy flavours.
