2.5 munchies: I love my scrambled eggs and chillies, but not when they marry together. The chilli scrambled eggs with fresh crab topping was one-dimensional and lacked sweetness; all I could taste was only the mediocre spices from the red cut chillies. The crispy creamy corn potato cakes may have stolen the show for me, but unfortunately, this dish wasn't about the croquettes.
This was a hosted meal by The Tuckshop.
As the name implies, you get a soft, old school matcha sponge with smooth matcha cream, topped with matcha sauce and vanilla ice cream on the side. What comes through for this dessert is the matcha bitterness that lingers in your mouth.
Monster thinks it's a matcha made in heaven.

Supermilk is the latest cafe to join buzzy cafe enclave The Commerz near Tai Seng MRT, offering artisan ice cream at $3.90/scoop as well as a small brunch menu. Expect an extensive variety of flavours such as Italian Pistachio, Hazelnut (our pick!), Bubblegum Grapefruit and Creamy Peanut Butter. Go for their Bubble Waffle — a humble cousin of the Hong Kong egglet — with 1 scoop of ice cream ($10.90). For brunch, go for their tomato-heavy 24-hour slow-cooked Tunisian Eggs ($13.90) is a good choice.
This waffle bar at the basement is just a month old. We tried all eight flavours and both soft serves. My favorite is the Apple Cinnamon one. Some of us liked the chocolate as well as banana ones. The soft serve is icy but really addictive!
It's been three months since I've switched to PR and probably the most important thing I've learnt is to roll with the punches. There's always sugary comfort food to soften the blow.
Alfero is an oldie but goodie; you can tell by the way they store their gelato – in a pozzetto to ensure freshness. What's outstanding here is the raved about Pistachio gelato, intense in flavour with a good dose of pistachio nuts. The Bacio (hazelnut and chocolate) is a safe bet, but Durian and Gula Melaka are excellent choices if you feel like something more local. Rest assured that you're getting premium gelato as Alfero freshly churns the gelato using natural ingredients imported from Italy and other parts of Europe, resulting in a super smooth authentic gelato. If you are lactose intolerant, they have dairy-free fruit sorbets too!
Favorite green tea place of mine!
By the good people behind Montana Brew Bar, Nookie Yogurt is a home-grown froyo place that manages to incorporate unique flavours so you get more than just the usual froyo toppings. Some of the more popular and interesting flavours you should check out include the Red Velvet (red velvet crumbs, strawberries, granola and chocolate sauce), Mango Sticky Rice (mango and kiwi, coconut cream, mango passion fruit spheres and mochi), and Matcha Black Sesame (black sesame crumble, watermelon, kiwi, mango passion fruit spheres and matcha sauce). All parfaits are $6.90, but you can customise your own if you like.
This humble little stall at SMU churns out high quality, artisanal gelato and popsicles that pack a punch in flavour. Fresh, premium ingredients are used and the gelato here contains less sugar, and the pure sorbet popsicles are perfect for the wellness-minded and lactose intolerant. Expect out-of-the-box gelato flavours like Shiro, a white miso gelato with butterscotch and almonds, and Shiok!, a coconut gelato with gula Melaka and pandan jelly – sure to satisfy your local taste buds.
Very generous serving of ice cream at Orange thimble! $4.50 per scope(per bowl). Try their sea salt salted caramel! Suppaa gooood😋
Everton Creamery, the newest entry in the buzzy Everton Park neighbourhood, serves a variety of gelatos to help you beat the ever-present Singapore heat. The more popular flavours include Banana Walnut, Mango Pineapple and Nocciolone (Hazelnut), but we say go for their Matcha — which uses pumpkin seeds for a truly unique crunch factor — or their unbelievably nutty Pistachio.
Hot on the heels of Honey Creme comes Milkcow, the Korean organic soft serve ice cream shop that has already launched itself across Japan, Philippines and Malaysia. Setting up shop within The Cathay, Milkcow distinguishes itself from the competition by providing not just the usual honeycomb, affogato and caramel popcorn flavours that its rivals usually offer, but also intriguing flavours such as Green Light (cool mint syrup with almond flakes), Milky Peace (pistachio syrup, sunflower seeds and cashew clusters) and Samsam (red ginseng syrup with almond flakes). Milkcow promises that their desserts are healthy, 100% natural, and truly organic - that means you can pig out on the soft serve with slightly less guilt!
