More Reviews of good food at CAD Café

And the gentle brick walls make for such nice backdrop.... Read more about this cafe combining Street art and good coffee on my site (click on active link in my bio)

This was a cute, little cafe in Haji Lane. My bagel was great, and I loved the side of chips that came with it. 😊 My soy cappuccino was also great: not any more bitter than any other place I've tried in SG (I prefer milder coffees, but Singaporeans seem to prefer more bitter brews); nonetheless, it was well made, which I don't say too often! Service was friendly and prompt; positive experience all around.

This was so fresh and yum! Try it to beat the heat.

Toby's estate coffee beans. But my flat white was a tad bit too bitter. The cafe had a nice vibe though with that 60s TV. Net net I'd rate the experience average.

Using Toby's Estate blends this cuppa is pretty intense with strong acidic body and a deep earthy finish. Perfect for the morning cuppa.

Unbeknownst to most, CAD has one of the most consistent coffees. Great for a little wind down (with my readings lol) on a lazy Friday afternoon.

CAD = Cafe Art Design. The cafe serves both alcoholic and non-alcholic drinks. If u are concerning about the price for drinks, they serve hot mocha, latte at $5 and others which are below $5. Small but cosy within. A lively cafe during the night time. Closed at 1230am.

Always a favourite place for their robust coffee, first time sitting at the cafe itself for a cuppa, I usually do take away :)

The savoury flavours of these smokey chicken wings goes well with the beers on the menu. Oh, dip them in the sweet chilli sauce. It makes you go loco.

Today's coffee was really smooth, tip from @Veronica Phua where they serve Jewel Coffee blend "bold as love" for tues & thurs!

Two eggs fried quick. Maggi seasoning. Chilli padi. Fresh coriander. Sweet tomatoes. All clasped between two halves of a Vietnamese-style bun to make one cool Asian sandwich. I do wish the ratio of egg to bread could be higher. But then again, I am someone who can never have enough egg 😉

Apparently the food here are so shit, but the beers are good enough for beverage time! Omelet: 1.5/5 Coffee: 3/5 Overall: 2/5

To mix things up a bit, CAD Cafe has started using Jewel Coffee's "Bold As Love" blend on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you crave a slightly darker roast than their usual Toby's Estate one, hop on down to Haji Lane and order a cuppa or two. Even if you don't, it's always worth a shot anyway - pun unintended 😁

Cad opens early from 8am, makes it available for me to get my perk me up for work. There was already a few people sitting in the cafe for their coffee

So this is what happens when I have salad for lunch. Barely two hours later, I find myself seated at CAD Cafe, facing a cube of chocolate brownie that's been heated up. It's got a great crunch on the outside and beautifully rich chocolate inside. Melting away very slowly on top is a gigantic scoop of vanilla bean ice-cream that's been extensively crisscrossed with chocolate syrup drizzle. I dig in without a moment's hesitation. Yummmmmms!

Red velvet waffle is so yesterday. Now is the time for the red velvet cookie! Baked in-house at CAD Cafe itself, the cookie has more of a crunchy than chewy texture. Although it has the taste of cocoa, what stands out for me are the little white chocolate chips. They make things more interesting with bits of creamy sweetness.

How creative is the name, and so apt as well as it's truly a bonanza of a banana bread. I'm loving this fragrant and thick slice of in-house baked goodness which is none-too-sweet and plenty moist. The subtle crunch (a result of its brief stopover in the oven enroute to me) is exceptionally lovely when paired with a scoop of vanilla bean ice-cream dusted with some chocolate powder (got to pay a bit more for this of course).
My ongoing banana bread/cake quest is shaping up to be so much fun.

First-rate Eggs Benny with Smoked Salmon. I really like the type of lettuce they use in their variation and they don't stinge on the salmon either.

This humble little hole-in-the-wall cafe along Haji Lane sports a bright blue exterior that pretty much tells you what it's all about. Young, fun, and laid back, this is a great place for a no-brainer pit stop. You might have trouble finding a spot to sit though!

CAD cafe gets its beans from Toby's Estate so yay for all the fans of Toby's including me! You've gotta admit Toby's Estate isn't very accessible via public transport so it's always good to have a more accessible alternative (CAD is only a few minutes' walk from Bugis MRT station). I don't like brews with strong acidic notes so Toby's brew suits me just right. Of late, I've been trying to omit sugar from my drinks but I've always had to sweeten my coffee to lessen the acidic (and for Hokkien speakers,"siap siap") taste. So I really appreciate how smooth and mellow this latte was that it didn't require any sugar. However, my companion found it too milky for his taste, so if you're like him, you may want to go for the mocha, which was stronger instead. The ambience at CAD was really different from most cafes. It is very raw and unpretentious, and hipster hahaha. I quite like it, but won't stay for long because there's no air con.
