The otah is fragrant with a soft, almost creamy texture that pairs well with the mee siam. A generous dollop of sambal ties everything together, adding just the right amount of heat. While the flavours hit the mark, a bigger portion of otah would have made the balance even better. Still, it’s a comforting and satisfying meal 》RM12.90

This is a bold fusion that delivers on both flavour and texture. The tangy, slightly spicy mee siam is brightened with a squeeze of calamansi, while the crispy, golden-brown chicken chop adds a satisfying crunch. A fried egg, cucumber slices, and sambal complete the dish, making it a comforting twist on tradition 》RM15.90

This bowl of laksa is rich and comforting, but don’t expect the usual SG-style broth. This one brings its own character — creamy yet distinct, packing a different balance of flavours. The bee hoon soaks up the fragrant broth perfectly, while toppings like crispy fried beancurd skin, tau pok bursting with flavour, springy fish cake, and a perfectly boiled egg round out the dish. It’s a satisfying twist on a classic that is worth trying 》RM13. 90

Dropped by for a super satisfying lunch! Love how we can build our own bowl with fresh, house-made ingredients.

Went with a mix of favourites — plump herh keow (fish dumpling), stuffed beancurd, bitter gourd, chilli, scallops, fishballs, yee wat (fish paste) and some fresh greens. The broth was light yet flavourful, with crispy seaweed adding that extra bit of texture.

For noodles, we had mee tai mak and carb-free fish noodles, both well-coated in savoury dark sauce. The mee tai mak had a nice chew, while the fish noodles were smooth, bouncy, and a rare find. Also grabbed the fried fish cake with sweet chilli dip on the side — simple but seriously addictive.

A solid spot for a comforting, fuss-free meal. Will definitely be back to mix and match more combos!

Yamada Beancurd is a go-to spot if you’re craving a comforting dessert at night, served from a food truck.

They offer beancurd in both original and pandan flavors, paired with your choice of white or brown sugar (Gula Melaka) syrup. I went for the Set C, which came with a delightful mix of toppings like taro balls, peach gum, and brown sugar pearls that’s freshly cooked on the spot. The pandan beancurd (available only on Friday and Saturday) is another must-try. I got it separately and it was silky, smooth, and subtly sweet. Their cold soya milk is pretty refreshing too.

Heads up, the queue here can get really long, but honestly, it’s worth the wait.

Fa Ge Lok Lok offers a no-frills lok lok experience with prices starting from RM1.50 per stick. Many visitors, like myself, find their way here thanks to the popular beancurd next door. While the selection of food and sauces is somewhat limited and might not stand out as the best lok lok around, it's still a convenient spot to grab a quick, satisfying bite. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but for the price and convenience, I wouldn’t mind coming back again.

The beancurd shaved ice is the star of the show, boasting a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth smoothness paired with a subtle sweetness that serves as the perfect canvas for the accompanying toppings. I added mini taro balls that brings a chewy and satisfying bite. I particularly like the sesame ball for its distinct flavour and fragrance. The water chestnut balls also offer a unique crunch and refreshing twist. The rose jelly was however a miss for me.

The pandan soy beancurd feels wholesome and comforting. The subtle pandan flavour adds a unique twist, infusing the dessert with a light, fragrant sweetness that perfectly complements the natural, mild flavour of the soy. The sweetness level is just right, not too overpowering which allows the pandan and soy to shine through without being cloying.

I believe many Singaporeans are familiar with this restaurant that famous for their paper wrapped chicken.

Although we came on Tuesday night but surprisingly there’s a queue with the locals during dinner peak time.

Thankfully the queue went fast and they actually served their dishes pretty fast also.

Love the herbal taste of their paper wrapped chicken. Soft and tender.

When searching for Pokok Cherry in JB, you would find 2 different locations with the same name.

I went to the one that serves nasi lemak from early morning 8:30am at the location few minutes drive from the custom.

There wasn’t any signage here, just a rundown setting of roof on a rusty green land beside the flyover.

Yet you could see people already standing around waiting for them to open at 8:30am and quickly filled the seats on weekend morning.

This Malay restaurant only sell Malay style of breakfast with nasi lemak and noodles. Which you will self-service by taking the dishes you want to go with your meal.

Not many options for the nasi lemak, but the standard one would be getting the fried chicken and fried egg.

You could taste the pandan flavour from their rice, matched with their popular crispy fried chicken.

This beautifully presented bowl is a delightful combination of soy beancurd shaved ice, peach gum, snow nest, ginkgo nuts, mixed taro balls, honey pearl, grass jelly and choice of sugar (osmanthus honey).

It originally comes with beancurd which I had it changed and topped up to shaved ice. The soy beancurd shaved ice is light and airy, with a delicate sweetness that melts in your mouth. It’s beautifully complemented the assortment of toppings that add both texture and flavour.

Whether you prefer a nuttier crunch or an extra touch of sweetness, the osmanthus honey and crushed peanuts are served separately which allows you to customise the dessert to your liking 》RM16 + RM3 Soy Beancurd Shaved Ice

If you are having your meal at Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, then you should leave without grabbing some fried snacks from this shop.

Famous for their 3 in 1 Chinese cake, which is a combination with sweet potato and yam.

The vegetarian tomato soup noodles are a delightful blend of savory, sour, and sweet flavors.
Served warm, the generous portion includes mock meat and cut vegetables, making it both hearty and satisfying.
The broth is rich and tangy, perfectly complementing the tender noodles.
Overall, it's a comforting dish that offers a balanced taste experience with every bite.
