Despite the colour, the Dan Dan noodles weren’t as spicy as I thought they would be. There’s a predominant taste of sesame paste and peanuts, with a hint of chilli only picking in after. I didn’t really enjoy this that much as I don’t enjoy spice, but my siblings really like this dish despite its milder flavours.

This 扣肉包 (braised pork belly bun) was good! I actually liked it more than other places because their sauce is on the sweeter side and is slightly more starchy, so I could drizzle it on the bun without the sauce flowing out that easily. The pork belly also didn’t have too much fat and still melted in my mouth in spite of that. Although it’s a smaller portion, cutting the pork into rectangles rather than slices meant that each bite tasted a lot more substantial!

This Crystal Jade serves quite a few la mian (ramen), and I like the texture of their noodles. Despite being thin, they have a real bite. These beef noodles were really tasty because the soup had a robust beefy flavour, and the meat was quite tender! I would get this again.

This is a simple dish, but they do it well. They use five grains (五谷) rice, fried with eggs, dried scallops, scallions, and peanuts, and top it with fried small anchovies. The whole dish is really fragrant because of the peanuts, and the hot pot makes the rice at the bottom charred like in claypot rice. It’s overall on the drier side though, compared to other fried rice.

Supposedly a 小笼包 buffet but it’s so much more than that! On top of the endless baskets of XLB, each diner is entitled to 1 bowl of ✨拉面, 1 basket of ✨assorted XLB (inclusive of chili crab, salted egg and mushroom) and other ✨cold dishes such as jellyfish, tofu w/ century egg and black fungus. The highlight for me was the ✨chili crab XLB; beneath the meticulous folds, its inside was packed with shreds of crab meat, bathed in a sweet and spicy broth that carried the homely flavour of chili crab! Our choice of 拉面 was on point as well: they were extremely generous with the abalones, which -when coupled with the scallion oil- was THE definition of umami!! On the other end of the spectrum, the simple double boiled chicken soup did not disappoint; stock was thick and rich with the flavour of chicken, containing tender bits that easily fell off the bone. And needless to say, we stuffed ourselves on the delicious original flavour XLBs as well!!! ‘Twas a truly decadent feast that night!

To Prosperity & Great Health! Huat ahhhhhhhhh!! 🍍🍍 Thank you @crystaljadesg for this Baby Abalone Yu Sheng. My family love ❤️❤️ it!
