Heard a lot of positive review about this place, finally tried it but not my type. Maybe their char kway teow is not too sweet and didn’t achieve the wok hei, overall become quite blend for me.

Location: Day Night Fried Kway Teow 日夜炒粿条, Bukit Merah Central Food Centre, 163 Bukit Merah Central, #02-41, Singapore 150163

Its different from normal ckt, becoz they used small/thinner version of Kway Teow, its wet, sweet version( not too sweet) with wok hei.
💰$4.5

This is the easily the best char kway teow in Bukit Merah, imho. Lots of wok heat, not too dry and quite generous with the fish cakes, Chinese sausages and chives. You can request for extra cockles at $1.50 (although I feel the extra portion was negligible). What’s nice about its flavours is they give you a lime to squeeze in and suddenly the char kway teow is no longer just sweet, savoury and spicy. The added tanginess also makes the plate less greasy tasting and you can gobble up more.

Definitely worth a return visit with friends and family.

The immediate visual difference is their use of the narrow flat rice noodles, like a pad thai dish, but also making it slightly less greasy.
.
Darker than elsewhere with a more generous drizzle of dark sweet soy sauce, which together with the wispy egg, gives this a more pronounced sweet savoury salty smoky eggy flavour.
.
Another difference is the garnish of pork lard sprinkled around, rather than fried together. This gives their rendition a unique crunchy contrast to texture, yum.

One of the few stalls standing in this market on a Sunday evening. Something different in this plate from the usual char kway teow is the use of narrow kway teow instead of the usual broader ones. Personally I’d still prefer the other because it seems to be able to hold the flavour of the dish better. No lack of ingredients such as fish cake, lup cheong (Chinese sausage), cockles, egg, bean sprouts, but the overall taste was slightly sweet and lacking wok hei.
