VCR is an oasis of calm in the heart of busy KL, with good coffee and decent food. Great texture on the thick and fluffy brioche french toast, and the flavour as well as textural combination of the espresso no churn ice cream, sour raspberry compote and coffee-esque mocha sauce worked well. However the chocolate soil and crumble was too fine and irritated the throat slightly.

It’s just too dark roasted and the milk used for the flat white doesn’t complement the coffee flavour notes. Had a go at their French Toast with Berry Compote and it comes with a scoop of mocha ice cream which makes the visit more worthwhile.

Going six years strong now, VCR leads KL’s cafe scene deservingly — the food is tasty and coffee is consistently good. The Burpple community is obsessed with the brunch grub, especially the French Toast (RM19) with espresso ice cream, raspberry compote and mocha sauce, as well as the no-fail Big Breakfast (RM36). VCR also roasts their own coffee beans, so expect quality cuppas like their deliciously smooth Flat White (RM12) to go with your meal, or if you’re looking for a caffeine-free option, Burppler Calie Tang’s recommends the Valrhona Chocolate (RM14).

Tastes as good as it looks? Not really. After hearing great reviews on the French Toast, I'd have to say I was slightly disappointed. What I liked was the espresso ice cream (so good) and the presentation.
On the other hand, coffee is good here. I would recommend the mocha. Not too sweet, just right.
Not your typical French toast , topped with good ice cream and the toast wasn't cakey and the portion its just nice if you want to have your breakfast. It also gives a hint of berry at the side of the toast which makes it more delicious !! Overall has good toppings and I would definitely revisit 😌☺️
