Pudi Masala Dosa

$6.00 · 13 Reviews

You'll most likely find this shop in Little india packed to the brim—but don't let that deter you. Queue for the community-favourite Plain Dosa ($5) that Burppler Blueskies Cottonclouds raves to be "really refined...like the Indian version of the French galette!". Delicious spiced potato is encased within a thin, crispy shell made extra fragrant by ghee, and served with turmeric-based sambar and coconut coriander chutney. Other dishes not to be missed include their Pudi Masala Dosa ($7), Uddina Vada ($2) and Poori ($5 for 2)!

With our thosai cravings still raging (right after devouring a masala dosa and the pudi masala one) we randomly picked this from the menu slideshow MTR shows on their TV screens. This one came super crispy, a tissue prata-like kind of thin, though not as tasty. Still, everything here is good for a try because you never know what gems you can uncover.

Review this Indian eatery many times before. Talked to the owner yet forgot to mention how good his Pudi Masala Dosa $7 is! 🤓😄
.
What we also had: chow chow bath $6, Mango Lassi $5, Rava Idly $4 and of course 🍩 shaped Uddina Vada $2 each. If you visit, try their daily specials plus Pudi Masala Dosa & you wouldn’t be disappointed!!

Customised "Pudi Rava Dosa" @ "MTR 1924" 🤓
*****
A second visit for this place on weekday lunch and initially we all just plan to have "Pudi Masala Dosa" $7 as we love their 🌶 & turmeric sprinkle. With a great help of Bhat (a Super friendly store manager), he suggests us to try a "customised version" of "Rava Dosa" $6.50 with a sprinkle of the spice they used in Pudi Masala and we ask for no potato topping!⛔️🥔
.
Also got a chance to try first time their Uddina Vadai $2 and Rava Idly $4 with mango lassi $5. Still Pudi Masala Dosa is their best signature dish! 👌

Mostly people rave about their "Masala Dosa" $6.00 BUT just between us! Their "Pudi Masala Dosa" (with lots of Chilli 🌶 flakes toppings) $7 is out of this world 🌎 ☄️🔥
.
They have meal of the day but only available in evening time. We ordered "mini meals" to accompany "Rava Idly" $4 and 2 Masala tea $2.50 each. All dishes are superb and MTR1924 is definitely a real good place for you guys to check out this weekend! 👌

I went to google what Pudi meant and... I really didn't like the answer. It was only when I read the reviews here that I realized it means powder. Phew.

The Pudi Masala Dosa ($6.50) is sprinkled with turmeric powder and that makes it very flavorful. The fatter (soft on the inside, crispy on the outside) yet flatter (open faced) cousin, this one is more filling, I guess more suitable for those with a bigger appetite (:

Learnt many thing while dining here - the Super efficient and clean environment and random facts like Pudi = powder (chili powder in this case).

The chili powder made it Super shiok! But my favourite is this the normal Masala Dosa for that amazing crisp shell!

Located just a few minutes' walk from City Square Mall (nearest MRT: Farrer Park), this constantly buzzy joint serves what we believe to be the best dosas in Singapore. They've nailed the familiar Masala Dosa ($6) with a crisp, ghee-fragrant exterior, tasty spiced potato filling and piquant chutneys on the side. Burppler Jayne Tan loves how she can distinctly taste fermented rice and black lentils in every bite. For the more adventurous dosa connoisseur, we highly recommend going for the Pudi Masala Dosa ($6.50), an open-faced pancake that is soft and spongy, yet browned and crisp on the bottom. Sprinkled with spicy chutney powder (it tastes very umami-ish, almost cheesy) and topped with a small mound of potato, this is one filling vegetarian dish! If it's your first time here, order both our recommended dosas to have the best of both worlds! Pro tip: This place fills up fast for dinner, so visit earlier at around 6pm (they begin dinner service at 5:30pm) and be prepared to share your table with strangers.
Avg Price: $10 per person

While I really loved the unbelievably crisp dosa here (Masala Dosa, $6), the rarer (at least to me) and fluffier open-faced Pudi Masala Dosa ($6) stole the limelight. I don’t know if it’s the sprinkling of spicy chutney powder or the indulgent smear of ghee, but this was absolutely lip-smacking and unlike any I’ve ever tried.

If it’s your first time here, order the normal dosa and the pudi masala dosa to get the best of both worlds!
